My little brother is a project manager at a large company here in Utah. Last summer they were too busy to send him company trucks one week and he had 2 separate side dumps go over. He said the guy in the Crapcadia asked him to tip him back upright and without doing any sort of thorough inspection, he said the guy worked the truck the rest of the day…….no habla English!

When I started in the road building industry, there was no such thing as a side dump. The first time I saw one, I declared that they would never be versatile enough to replace end dumps and belly dumps…………I was dead wrong! Contractors (especially Ames Construction) LOVE them.

It's so interesting to me how regional different equipment is. My part of the world there are virtually no end dumps.. a few dump trucks with pups. 90%side dump and some belly dumps. Belly dumps mostly for spreading road gravel or sub base.

Out here the majority of gravel is hauled with a dump truck and quad axle wagon.

Oxbow, dirthaller and ElmerFudpucker Thank this.

Side dumps are king in South Dakota.

IMG_1254.jpeg IMG_1256.jpeg IMG_1255.jpeg These are the only trucks that I have ever owned that hauled dirt. I sold the last one in 2013. I’m out of the dirt hauling business. I’m single truck flatbed now.

Oxbow and Sons Hero Thank this.
