Oh ok. I was talking about the job you had prior to Woody Bogler with the 2k plus weekly checks. That one was end dump as well?

In my state fast food wages pays $20 buck an hr. My last 6mo OTR in 2018 I ran 2600miles a week for a refer outfit and when all said and done averaged $17 per hour.
Now I work smarter not harder. I work 12hr I get paid for 12hrs rather I actually worked or not. OTR drivers put in long hours and get paid like gig workers and yet drivers are conditioned to thinking there are good OTR companies to work for. There's even a good company forum on here If your still being paid a piece rate to drive a tractor trailer in 2026 with all the technology the companies have for metrics, your company is not a good company.

I see new classes for it coming in that might last afew weeks to a month and they disappear not long after. They use to pair you and afew others with a trainer that you’d all follow around for some weeks (separate trucks) but from what I understand, they stopped because they were burning through so many people and paying those trainers $500/day. If that’s truly the case, they stopped it for the wrong reasons in my opinion. Now they group you together (still separate trucks) and a local experienced guy rides with one of you. Not for sure where all they’re picking up from but I doubt they’re putting out the same product as when they went out with a trainer for weeks. Nothing against the local guy who trains them now because he’s definitely knowledgeable, been on the loader and end dump side but, it’s not enough exposure. We all know the real reason they were and are burning through people.

When I went through training, it was a dude who got a DUI. Because of that, he lost his ability to actually drive or something along those lines. It seemed like he knew what he was doing, but he was rushed. I learned how to do end dump, but at the end of the day, I can make more as a dry van driver. Bumper docks and less work. Also, apparently a lot of their drivers quit when they reduced the speed of the trucks to 65 mph, which does suck.

Yeah then you came in after the change. I hear the training was afew days then you got kicked on your own. I’d argue the worst part about the trucks wasn’t being governed at 65, it was the suspension, tall rear ends and the 12 speed. They’re so worried about hauling as much weight as they can they don’t at all consider they’re not the ones that’ll have to drive those trucks in and out of those piles and down the road. Running anything but a vocational suspension and a minimum of an 18 speed and 3.58 rear ratio for the work we do is utterly insane. All the extra revenue they’re taking in is going in part to repairs from running freight hauler specs.

And the fact that they don't pay the overweight ticket. The company truck that was assigned to me broke down once a week, and I didn't get paid for it either. I honestly do not understand how they have any drivers working there. There's no way anyone can survive on what they pay, unless other dudes are getting deals that I didn't get.

Another thing that doesn’t help their truck specs is the dead drive axle. Trying to get around spun out Woody Bogler trucks at Mason City and CPC in Kansas City was always a treat. One of their trucks was spinning on flat ground in Chanute in the rain last time I was there.
