You better get an offer first before moving, the market isn’t exactly hiring like crazy these days. The fact you don’t have experience is also gonna effect how quickly you get picked up. Especially when looking at the private fleets.

The plug power fleet runs liquid hydrogen out of our plant (Air Liquide) in North Las Vegas.scythe08 and viper822004 Thank this.

As in no cryo experience, right? Would it be better to run OTR with a carrier like LGT or Southern pines to get cryo experience first?Friend Thanks this.

I’m just saying it might be more difficult depending on the market to get on with a private fleet than a third party such as KAG, Genox, plug power etcviper822004 Thanks this.

Nah. All private carriers will train you. What I think Calikid is saying is that in the current market the private carriers might take someone with prior experience.Cali kid Thanks this.

Linde is Hiring in both the Dallas area and Houston. We train anyone that meets our requirements:
- 3+ years of tractor-trailer driving OR
- 2+ years of tanker trailer driving
I dont know if We(Linde) are still doing sign on bonuses or anything like that. The hiring process can be quite long, it isnt a quick process and they VERY thorough. I wont post our job link as I think its against the rules but its easy to find, but we do have different divisions Linde Gas US(Bulk gases), and Linde Gas and equipment(Bulk gases and containers) If you apply, the recruiter should reach out in about a week. I dont know if Linde still does Denial letters. Stupid Praxair sent me denial letters every 3-6 months for almost 4 years after I applied for a job back in 2012, Jerks! Rub that salt in the wound a few more times, why dont you!!Dennixx, viper822004 and Brown Moose Thank this. -
I applied to Linde’s bulk division over the weekend for the Houston area. I have 5yrs of driving experience and close to 3yrs of hazmat tanker work. Only thing I’m worried about is them not calling me because I don’t live in the area yet.
Although, I’m willing to relocate with a job offer in hand. I just don’t want to fork out a bunch of money moving first and still not be able to get a job for whatever reason. I don’t go around chasing sign on bonuses or bouncing from company to company. I’m just looking for a company I can call home and retire from in the next 20-30yrs.
How are they very thorough? Im sure they just call your previous jobs asking for verification, MVR,criminal, etc.Last edited: Feb 18, 2026

They go over your driving record with a fine tooth comb. and they asked for W2's for every employer for the past 10 years and the dates had to match exactly. Even the time of between jobs had to be explained and documented. Botht times I applied, I lived 90 minutes from the terminals and had to move closer for the job. If they are interested, the recruiter will ask if youre willing to move. We get alot of out of state applications. When I lived in Phoenix ,AZ, I applied and was offered a job at Messer in Vancouver, Wa, It shouldnt be a big deal. . I ending up not taking it at that time and lost interest in working for Messer. I wanted to go Linde or Airgas/Air Lquide. The only issue will be your drug test. I dont know how they will handle that for you. Both of mine, I had to go to a specific Center in the city where both terminals were at to do the pee test. So you might have to drive somewhere inconvenient.
But you still will have to get a medical card for Us regardless of your current one and do a drive test, and have a formal interview, which can easily be done via zoom or just a phone call. Usually once the recruiter, and or your supervisor gets documentation that you passed your drug test, you will get a formal offer. Linde moves at glacial speed, at least up in the Pacific Northwest. You guys down in Texas might be under a different umbrella, than we are, so it may run a little different. Houston has a crapton of cryo companies and Jobs and guys switch companies left and right, so it may be more streamlined. Up here, our terminals are alot smaller and guys tend to stay where they are. I only know of one guy that left Airgas to come work for us.
I cannot overstate how strict Linde(and most Private Cryo Companies) are about saftey. This is also terminal dependent. Our terminal is a little lax, while other can and will fire you for not setting your cones out before you back, or taking your seatbelt off for any reason while the truck in in motion, or using your phone for any reason when the brakes arent set. Thats probably the number reason people get fired here is because of phone usage. Guys forget or think they can hide the phone or their bluetooth headset, and they get popped.Last edited: Feb 18, 2026

Oh wow, makes me nervous about the employment check now. I don’t think I have W2s from 10yrs ago and a couple of my previous jobs went out of business and I don’t keep in contact with those managers anymore. So I don’t know how they’re going to verify that.viper822004 Thanks this.

I got a thanks but no thanks email from Air Products for their team driving position. Maybe because I'm from out of state? Hopefully I’ll hear back from Messer or Linde soon. I’m trying to avoid driving for a third party carrier if possible and want to minimize bouncing from job to job.
viper822004 and scythe08 Thank this.
