I think it can go either way. I've had good dispatchers that have never driven a truck and I've had bad dispatchers that have driven a truck. Like my dispatcher Konan at Caledonia Haulers trying to tell me I should be driving 650-700 miles every single day because "I used to do it when I was driving". It wasn't just me either. Apparently other drivers had problems with Konan

650 to 700 miles a day is not feasible every single day. He’s just a tad bit on the clueless side… While, yes you can actually do it. You know you’re not gonna be able to do it every single day like he claimsMACK E-6, Gearjammin' Penguin, ducnut and 1 other person Thank this.

My record is 714 and that's the 2nd time I went over 700 miles in a day. But yeah, no way you can do that every single day. Especially in the lanes they runGearjammin' Penguin, ducnut, navypoppop and 1 other person Thank this.

The worst part is these people not realizing who feeds who. And, they really don’t care. If not a driver, then, a parasite. Simple.hope not dumb twucker, Cobrawastaken and Gearjammin' Penguin Thank this.

The number of times I've said that to clueless desk jockeys is beyond counting. Drivers, do this and watch how fast these self important jerks scurry back into their office.hope not dumb twucker, drvrtech77, Cobrawastaken and 2 others Thank this.

Got stacked with preplans today. After I deliver in Lewisville in the morning I'll be picking up in Dallas going to Rogers, MN. 33 empty miles 963 loaded. Then I'll be picking up in Le Sueur, MN going to Edmond, OK. 69 empty miles and 771 loaded. I'm not thrilled about getting two sub 1000 mile runs in a row but I do like running I-35. Haven't really gone up and down I-35 that far in a while either. Not since my FCC days doing their Southwest regional division.
Knucklehead, Gomer1969, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well, I say that, but actually I'm not taking I-35 for long on the way up there. Just on the way back. From Dallas I'll be taking US-75 to US-69 to I-44 to I-49 to I-35. Still very familiar highways for me. A lot of trucking companies send me home from Dallas for home time so I've been through there a lot.

You can take US-75 out of DFW to US-82 and go west to hit I-35 that way.. I-35 is the better route in my book.. I take it you don't want to go thru the heart of DFW and I get it.. US- 82 is a good by pass in case you didn't know. That route is quicker and better fuel mileage..US-69 thru OK eats alot of time.. and that old scale house in Durant is one of the worst ones in the state..Cobrawastaken Thanks this.

I got a preplan today. After I deliver in Edmond tomorrow morning I'll deadhead to Springdale, AR for a load going to Clackamas, OR. 205 empty miles 2037 loaded. I requested to be home on the 25th so I'm not sure if they forgot about my home time or if I'm going to meet another driver somewhere along the way to swap loads. Either way doesn't matter to me. I don't have anything planned for my home time and I wouldn't mind a nice long run like that if I did end up taking it all the way.
hotrod1653, bryan21384, Lonesome and 3 others Thank this. -
Chances are you’ll probably swap in Wyoming or Idaho, depending on the direction you go.
