Nothing personal against you Cheryl. I just think the admin have been banning and scolding people lately over some silly things. And in my opinion they need to back off or they are gonna ruin this forum. It seems lately they are abusing their power.
Don't get me wrong. Some people are way harsh, and the admin do the right thing.
But in other instances people getting scolded for directing people to read the orginal post when posters ask stupid questions because they haven't bothered to read what was already posted. Just my opinion though!

As far as Roehl pay, they almost drove my into bankruptcy. Most of my checks while I was there were about $350 a week. Thats take home after they took out taxes and family health insurance. So it seems to me that the $23,000 he was saying could be realistic under the right circumstanses.

I think a lot of it depends on which division and DSR you have. When my husband was on curtainside his first DSR would get him loads with lots of stops, the stops are what help add up, plus he'd get tarp/untarp pay each time he pulled the curtain, so pay wasn't horrific. Then they switched him to another DSR who wouldn't give him the tarp/untarp pay, said it was at their discretion, and not a lot of stops, so we started to hurt...to the point of qualifying for food stamps. He then got tired of playing games with that DSR/division and went to northeast Van. Pay was way better in that division than what he was getting in curtainside (he doubled his take home pay by switching divisions). We were sorry we didn't know sooner that although he lost a couple pennies a mile the pay turned out to be better for us (my husband was maxed out on PPM too). Anyway, I think it's feasible that the previous poster did only make a low amount. Plus if he drove when freight was in the really bad slump, that would've contributed to the lowness too. Really hard to say if someones telling tales on what they were paid as the variables per person are so great at times, one mans penny can equal another mans dollar in the same company.

I got a lot of $250 checks, plus or minus a couple dollars, near the end of 2008. Summer of '09 the mileage and tuition reimbursement once added up to $1050 or so. I think everyone may be right here.

Big Red was posting the exact same message to multiple threads, used unreadable grammar including putting the same smiley in after every sentence, and fired personal insults, and we're debating over banning him?

The actual banning of him...not me, I'm not debating it. The posts I saw of his weren't my *cup of tea* so I mostly just rolled my eyes and ignored him, like I do anyone that either I can't understand what they're trying to say (grammar issues) or see it's full of *fluff* lol. My point was more on the paychecks from Roehl portion, not the guy being banned. That's fully at admins discretion any which way.

No don't turn any load down or you won't last. Just keep a positive attitude and stay away from all the negative people which wll be hard too do anywhere. Just trying to get the real facts out about the trucking industry when a company has student drivers. Not starving but not getting rich just getting by. Good luck. Don't expect to be home every weekend. I don't know how Cheryl's hubbie can be. Must be on a dedicated run.

Great Lakes Regional Flatbed...at least that is what they used to call it. We also live right off one of their major freight lanes, so going from WI to the east coast, or vice versa, he drives right by the house.
I also should add, he has had to stay out on the occasional weekend, but it's rare, maybe once every 2 or 3 months. The hometime that they offered us was one of the major reasons that he went with Roehl.

What part of NW PA? I am from Erie myself. I'm at Roehl's school right. I went with Roehl's National Flats. That is all they had for non experienced drivers like myself. What do you do with the truck when you are home?
