Just for the record, ( I see pitchforks and torches), perhaps low self esteem was the wrong term, dog owners, I read, typically have higher self esteem and are generally more physically fit. I got carried away with my feelings, rather than how The _vett put it,^^^ much better. Dog owners are generally more caring people, but I still see a psychological issue with someone that has several dogs, and a confined space like a truck, is no life for several dogs, a safety issue indeed. I met a gal once, single, issues up the ying yang, she lived in a motorhome, with, get this, 4 big dogs, 2 little dogs, and a freakin' pig. Clearly a cylinder not firing there. I wanted nothing to do with her after hearing that. Dogs are the neediest creatures, need constant reassurance, like vett says, it's an occupation that needs your undivided attention, and I doubt there's a company in the world that would allow that many "distractions" anyway.

4 dogs to board be a minimum of $160 per day, any less and I would be suspect of the care they receive.

Huh, why drive a truck? Neighbor had his dogs hair cut, $125 BUCKS!!! Liability is curtailing any pet services today, I wouldn't be comfortable taking care of anyone's, pets, kids, or plants.Carpenter Scotty and The_vett Thank this.

Have been getting health insurance for our dogs for a while now, it has saved us from ten thousand in vet bills for two of our dogs a few years ago.
But I agree with your sentiment about the ever growing cost of all things pet related, almost exploitative at this pointLast edited: Feb 19, 2026
Reason for edit: Cost was wrong, was just over 10 in vet bills -
What size of dogs plays a big factor.

That’s true. We only board dogs that are socialized and respond to basic commands so every dog is vetted in advance

Well everyone isn’t going to be dog people but I don’t know about self esteem part if anything it’s more of a selfless thing.Dogs have a amazing ability to teach someone unconditional love and how to stay in the moment not the past or future the now. And really forces you to get some exercise by taking them for walks But on the same hand I don’t disagree the way you feel about owning dogs I feel about people owning birds I have never understood how we as people can take a animal that GOD has given the gift of flying and put it in a cages I’ve never seen the benefit of doing that.201, The_vett, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this.

I just checked a place to board my Australian shepherd for a little over a week while I go on vacation. It’s $40 a day for one dog. I’d say it’s either do the team drive and adopt out at least 2 of the dogs or forget it.

Now you're lumping in animal abusers tying a dog up on a chain with responsible owners that actually know and care for their pets. Not even the same thing. Look i ain't knocking you or anything but you just can't paint with broad strokes like that. Plenty of normal people have pets. And unfortunately there's a lot of bad people in the world that never should have them too.

Boarding 4 dogs will be cheaper than having to buy your tractor and trailer. I seriously doubt a company will go for the menagerie in a company truck.
The_vett, RockinChair and Lonesome Thank this.
