Yep, know what you mean, about those pm's. Needed to go by yard to get insurance card and trailer was due for a pm. I made sure, I got there after hour's and left before the guy's at gate got there the next morning.

Yea!!! Picking up my load tomorrow thats taking me home. In desparate need of a break from these yahoos!!!!
-
They put you up in a motel? Down time pay? $50 a day?
-
Motel, yes if student and trainer's truck breaks down. $50 a day after the 1st 24 hrs have passed unless you have driven 250 miles or more , I think, to get to where your going to sit on your butt for awhile.
Like all big companies, this outfit has got it down to a T as to how they can maximize profits for them while....not doing the same for U.
EX.- meat load. Window is say 04/18 1000 hrs to 04/20 0400. You got there at 04/18 0900. Load is rdy at 04/20 0100. 1st 24 hrs free for the company, you didn't sit there for another 24 hrs so you get nothing. -
Oh yea, if you meant hotel while waiting on a load.....get real. They really didn't even want me driving 40 extra miles to get a shower. Why 40? Nearest truckstop to the Plainview meat plant is 20 miles away.

Panhandle. I feel for ya. I was with TA for training only and me and my brother are responsible for Lee Tubbs getting dismissed from his job as training director. It turns out you CAN win.
I know the company is (read: was) as good as you could find for a starter company but something bad changed. Me and my brother still talk to our trainers and those guys are dying on the road. Jeff, my bro's trainer, has had to move 3 times in the last year because he can't afford rent. He's a company guy. My trainer Charlie is worse off because he leased. His Girlfriend died and he couldn't afford to go to the funeral.
I can't wait for the day that T/A can't find loads and the management goes under like Arrow. Many drivers will be affected also, but those guys aren't exactly living the dream now anyhow. -
TA, is still a pretty good company to work for. You just have to communicate with your dispatcher to get what you need and want, as alot of them are new. I've been here going on 2 year's ( 1 as comp dr other as a o/o ) don't have to many complaint's, but like everyone say's as a new driver say " NO TO THE LEASE" atleast until you get hang of how this trucking thing works.

well guys. I starved.Am in the process of losing my home, not because of unemployment...because OF employment.Imagine pleading your case after three months and one four day home stretch to the bank ,trying to explain how you worked and aside from the initial 350.00, never got a positive pay.Who the hell would be so stupid?! I was. got a restart the week I was to go home(been out for 6wks),had 3 days to drive 797 miles,a 200 mile d/h home, got home 2 days late,683miles trip after HT, and then a restart. Yep, I leased.Yep i screwed up by doing so.But i found you can rot and they dont give a rip.long as you pickup, deliver.nothing else matters.

Hi Jeepskate99 thanks for your post. I would love to learn a little more about training and development and Mr. Tubbs. Would you be able to give me a call at 646-924-6642? Thank you! Carolyn Libby
