Going by what we see out here, its pretty obvious the 50% number probably isn't far off as you think. It may not be an exact number, but id guess atleast 30%+ are foreigners. A big number of those foreigners are unqualified. Fact.

No, "People" don't like the "Optics" of truckers running through stopped traffic and killing people, making illegal Uturns and killing people, parking on the shoulder ILLEGALLY and killing people, crawling off that shoulder directly onto the travel lane and killing people, speeding through snow storms, fog, dust storms etc. and killing people. You see, what you refer to as "Optics" or a "Perceived", "People just don't like diversity", No, most people just see this for what it is. 3rd world untrained foreigners bringing their way of driving to a civil society and wreaking havoc.rollin coal, Gearjammin' Penguin, JB7 and 1 other person Thank this.

50% maybe low, at least here in the west. Arab and india seem to dominate the wesrn highways and truckstops.
ElmerFudpucker, Lonwolv54 and LOTSO Thank this. -
I said what I said. Immigrant drivers and other demographics show potential under-representatiation. Straight from FMSCA. Its still a white male, American born dominated industry. It ain't as many foreigners as you think. I'll concede that the industry js becoming more diverse, but the media does a tremendous job of reporting in hyperbole.

The FMCSA also tried to promote the idea that ELDs made trucking safer and they reduced accidents. That was false.
Real life exposure to the actual reality of things versus the FMCSA's version is very different.ElmerFudpucker, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and Lonwolv54 Thank this. -
Define 'we'. If you are in OTR trucking running the interstates then yeah, that's what you see. These people take these jobs because they can get them. Can't fault them for that, though I still hate to see so much of it. I mostly hate the mega companies that have no pride and will hire anyone with a pulse more than the lazy saps who fill most of their seats though, personally.
As soon as you get off the freeway in almost all of the US you'll see that about every tanker, every regional/LTL/local truck, every equipment and specialized hauler, etc. is classic American, read majority white or black with a few other minorities peppered in there, same as it's always been depending on where you are.
People who get all hung up on furriners driving trucks are probably spending too much time fighting them at the major truck stops and DCs. Get out of that rat race and life improves.Lonwolv54, Numb, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -
I guess actual live dashcam footage, a passerby filming the aftermath live or a news team on scene showing these accidents and the truck driver himself is "Hyperbole" now...
TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and Lonwolv54 Thank this. -
Im regional and pull a hazmat tank and I see it. I used to be OTR, I see as many foreigners now than I did before, actually more....so I don't believe it really matters where or what kind of trucking you're doing. If you run the main highways and interstates, you can literally see whats going on. You dont have to even be a truck driver at all to notice it.
Freight boxes outnumber anything out on the road atleast 5 to 1. A large majority of Freight boxes are foreigners. You literally see it all day no matter where you are.ElmerFudpucker Thanks this. -
The "foreigner" who does it goes viral. When it's a 63 year old white man who "passes out"/falls asleep and crashes into a home, killing a baby - nobody really takes notice.
If you want to prove your case - document all the cmv caused accidents with grievous bodily harm or worse and show what percentage were caused by 'foriegners' (let's say in the country for less than 10 years). Show me data that supports your claim and I'll change my mind.86scotty, bryan21384 and Numb Thank this. -
I don't need any government statistic that was probably skewed anyways. My documentation is being out on the road every day and seeing it with my own eyes.
