You know what, you're right, I agree with you. The vast majority of drivers are white, fat, slobs. Yet, all the fatalities and havoc are being wreaked by the 3rd world foreigners. Finally, you and I agree on something.

There isn't a single company that will ever keep their trucks full. Trucking in my opinion is much easier than it was in 2010 when I got started. I think many companies have done what they can to attract drivers, and keep them. Pay has increased, there's more amenities, the trucks are more comfortable, they've tried sign on bonuses, I don't know what more they can do. I feel like ecery company could offer a ¼ mil yearly and we'd still be having the same conversation. At the end of the day, it's just not a lifestyle that most people want. People get into trucking without really putting respect on the industry. They don't know what they get into.
There's not a driver shortage in the spot market to your point about rates, but the driver shortage isn't pushed by drivers in the spot market. Its pushed by megas with customer freight. Everyone knows about Swift, Werner, Schneider. That's who the feds pay attention to. They aren't paying attention to Joe Blow Transport operating off the spot market lol. -
Lol... I guess. The fat white slobs contribute to the accidents too. Years of posts in the trucking accidents section on here.Lonwolv54 Thanks this.

Well companies could pay drivers for All their time, I think a quarter mill would cover that..actually more than cover that.. but I do agree that there will always be some turnover in OTR due to the lifestyle but it wouldn't be near what it is now.. maybe 10 to 20 percent turnover.. Also trucking back then was a lot tougher than it is today..100 percent agree..The feds/politicians pay attention to who has the money..to fund their next election..
-
That's exactly right. I really don't think turnover would decrease. Trucking is a difficult profession psychologically. That's what runs so many people out of the industry. The first Christmas, anniversary, kid's birthday missed, and the realization that there will never be a work life balance, for many it's too much of a price to pay.

#news #new More than 700 Trucking companies list the same address in Signal Hill, California near Long Beach, which is the 2nd largest container port in America

About 500 of these share the same phone number and an email address - leading many to believe major Fraud is happening in the trucking industry - hurting American trucking companies.
Joe Biden pumped $57 million in grants into the trucking industry in 2021 with The Biden-Harris Trucking Action Plan working to streamline CDL issuance - which it did - issuing over 876,000 CDLs since January 2021.
At the same time, Biden expanded programs like CBP One and CHNV parole which issued work permits to more than 531,000 migrants by September 2024, and added 70,000 H-2B visas in 2025 allowing migrants to pursue trucking jobs.
The U.S. experienced a 400% rise in freight fraud from 2022 to 2023.
In April 2023, the potential fraud was reported to the FMCSA, highlighting the improbability of so many companies operating from a single, small building in a town of 11,500 people - yet nothing has been done.
The email address - [email protected] - has been described as mocking the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)

In April of last year, President Donald Trump signed an executive order saying speaking english is a non-negotiable safety requirement" for Truck drivers.
The Executive order came about one month after 37-year-old Solomun Weldekeal Araya rammed his truck into 17 vehicles after failing to stop, killing five people including a child and an infant.
Video taken after the crash appears to show that Araya was unable to speak English.
Austin Police charged him with five counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.drvrtech77 and JB7 Thank this. -
Because it's something that's tracked relatively the same in every state and represents a clear danger to society.
Most accident reports in the media don't name names, and even those that do don't reveal immigration status. Unless it fits a narrative, then it gets plastered everywhere. Once a driver passes training at Schneider, all the stats I've seen show that immigrant drivers have incident rates inline with native born drivers. Fail rates in training is a different story, but all of them had a CDL before they showed up which means the problem is in initial licensing.bryan21384 Thanks this. -
This thread started with conflating race and immigration status, as most of these threads do. To many of the Esteemed Members, anyone with an accent is an "illegal".Numb and bryan21384 Thank this.

Is that your passive aggressive way of calling them racist?
Fact (pay close attention) if you are hear illegally; born, brought, or arrived, you are illegal and are due no right other than human rights. Meaning we can't kill torture or maim you for your illegal presence, nor must we pay for your existence. Everything else the "Esteemed Members" come up with, is a fart in the breeze hot air that has no merit and deserves no argument or discussion. They are incapable of intellectual honesty and should be completely dismissed.drvrtech77, HoundDog7, Gearjammin' Penguin and 1 other person Thank this. -
Not passive aggressive - explicit. It doesn't matter to certain members if a person has done EVERYTHING CORRECTLY to immigrate. In their eyes, the fact the driver is foreign born makes the driver illegitimate - unless they come from Ireland/Norway/etc. Billy Bob can't back into a spot and it's "this idiot got his CDL out of a Cracker Jack box". When Deepak Rajesh can't back into a spot it's "these dang foreigners are ruining the industry". The more important question is "why can't a CDL holder back into a spot at a truck stop?".
I've been pretty vocal about my thoughts on training standards. Immigration status shouldn't have any impact on a person's ability to pass a CDL skills test. It should be entirely skill based, which includes being able to read/follow written instructions and be able to follow verbal commands. If you want to talk about the appropriateness of people on TPS/asylum/DACA/whatever to be able to test for a CDL - OK, that's valid. But if a person is legally allowed to take a CDL test and they pass it, that's it. Any complaints about the quality of the driver needs to go back to the CDL standards and not on anything else.SoulScream84, Numb and bryan21384 Thank this.
