It may have been my case. I had 2 long periods of unemployment, when I went on vacation/sabbatical. I had also moved to 3 different states in the past 10 years, so have 3 different CLDs, and several address changes. I also tend to bounce around every few years, because I get bored or want to live somewhere else. I don't think I went through all that when I first applied, but the second time, wow! I wouldnt worry too much. My point was to just be honest, and open. Hell, if they hired me, just about anyone can get on lol

Also forgot to add, dont worry about the job hopping. If you go 3rd party cryo, ,then you're getting valuable experience. We use US Cryo Carriers out of Houston as a 3rd party to help us when we dont have enough call and demand guys and we are very fond of those guys. They were all professionals and did excellent work. You may want to consider them as well. They run sleeper trucks, with tanks with pony motors.
There may or may not have been some lamentations of having to be professionals and NOT poach drivers from them lol.77fib77, Lightfoot71 and viper822004 Thank this. -
As I said before the cryo industry isn’t hiring like crazy these days. Wasn’t that long ago we only had five driver positions posted in the entire country!

Good day driver,
I was able to apply and move to Texas with a job. Instead of moving and then looking for a job or a career. However that was over 12 yrs ago. With the applicant pool having so many experienced ppl. And also ppl with clean records. HR or who ever does the hiring at these different places can be very picky these days.
Currently as I write this, there are only 2 positions open in Houston. One local with Linde. And the stay out a month driver job with Airgas. Witch you do not want to do. If you can get on at a 3rd party carrier as a company driver. Then that will get you some experience and you could apply to a private carrier when positions open up.
I've been told that matheson is the highest paying private carrier in Houston now. But as far as who's best in Houston. It's as follows
Linde
Air Products
Matheson
Airgas
Messer
The only reason I didn't put airgas last. Is because the terminal manager at Messer in Baytown is very hard to deal with. But Airgas in LA Porte hasn't been able to keep drivers every since Air Liqude bought them out. And let them take over transportation. However if your looking for long term employment. Its definitely Linde or Air Products in the Houston area.
Honestly I wish you the best in your searching. But please don't go to a 3rd party carrier and get into a lease just to try to get your foot into cryo. If it aint a company driver position. Then keep looking on indeed or the companies website. The Houston area is a very large cryo market and it's still growing.
But also be warned if you don't like rules. Man stay where your at!!! The top 5 cryo companies are gas corporations. Not trucking companies, so they expect you to put absolute excellence into your daily task. And also the hiring process can be 2.5 months long in some cases. So be prepared for that also with a private carrier.RockinChair, scythe08 and viper822004 Thank this. -
Edited. I looked at some of the dates, and Linde is in process of, or already has on-boarded people in some of those spots now. I can't see them still having open spots 3 months down the road, unless its a place with a revolving door like Fife. No offense to Fife as I worked for and like the Bosses over there. They tend to go through alot of guys

You advise not going to 3rd party and leasing to get into cryo...what about going to 3rd party and leasing AFTER several years of company-driver cryo experience?
-
If your experienced in cryo already. And want to go do a L/P at one of the 3rd party carriers. That is your decision, I know several drivers I was with at the original Linde (messer) & Airgas that left for genox, lgt, coastal, cti, and etc. I just don't recommend doing L/P because if I want a truck. Im either buying it cash, or sitting down with one of my financial institutions. And we can draw up a loan contract that we can agree on.
Some L/ P are ok but there isn't many. Most aren't set up with possible parameters for the driver to win. But in a nutshell, I don't believe in paying the place I work at for a truck. When I can go get a truck from a private seller or a lot. With way better condition, terms, and etc. Went and looked over a truck last year. Then had my CU to print me a cashiers check. The owner rolled out the red carpet and had everything cleaned and ready. Then I left his property as the new owner.
Had this same truck been a L/P deal. I would have paid 2.5 times more over the corse of time. And had a balloon payment at the end of the lease term. So its a GIGANTIC NO for me on L/P at any company.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
My best option is going to a third party cryogenic company first and then apply for any of the big 4 when i get enough experience?
I been at my current company for almost two years now. If i go to a third party company how long should i plan on staying before applying to any of the private companies, 2yrs minimum?
I really don’t want to leave the oilfield to go back over the road. But I guess it’s probably my only option to get cryo experience. I already been denied by Air gas and Air products so far.
What would be the best third party cryogenic company? LGT, Genox? -
Sorry, I was confusing the situation...when you said Lease Purchase for some odd reason I was thinking Owner Op. What you described is what I'd want to do...have my own truck and drive cryo...I saw on some cryo website they accept drivers who already have their own trucks...but I can't remember who that was at the moment.viper822004 Thanks this.

You can have your own tractor at Genox(GENOX TRANSPORTATION, INC..), it doesnt have to be a lease, . They also have company driver positions(GENOX WEST TRANSPORTATION, LLC)
Looks like theyre head quartered in Deer Park, Tx.
Dont be discouraged by refusals. Those companies may have people on-boarding. Keep an eye on every company page that you want to work for, and the second you see something you, apply, even if they said no to an application before. Be a pest.rollin coal and viper822004 Thank this.
