I want to finally get my own truck but don't have the balls (yet) to go under my own authority. Are there any *reputable* carriers that allow me to self-dispatch on DAT/Truckstop? I do not want to use some internal/private/company load board (Landstar, JB Hunt, etc: no thanks).

The only carrier I could find that says they do this is Allbound Carrier Inc., *however* reading reviews from drivers they are supposedly a scam company.

I have experience with and prefer reefer/dry, but am flexible.

What are you looking to do? Dispatch yourself out and back all over the lower 48 or take a company load out & dispatch yourself back or someplace else?
Are you looking to run a certain area or wherever you feel like?
I don't know any company, reputable or not, that's gonna let you self dispatch off a DAT load board with their equipment.
Not every carrier is set up with those brokers and may not want to.
I think Ashley furniture sends you out to a customer & you deadhead back (I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong)
Sorry, but you might want to look into Greatwide & buy your own truck, though this really isn't a good time to go independent.
Just curious, have you looked at the current freight rates? It ain't pretty....

They want to buy their own truck) and lease on to a carrier that lets them self dispatch…so that means spot freight.

Sounds like they also need the carrier to provide the trailer.

I don’t think I’d want to be that first carrier they signed on with…probably will need them to provide everything..IRP, IFTA, 2290 and the list goes on and on.

Carrier pays everything up front and then pay back at $250/month. Will have to borrow from the carrier get a used tire. Will expect to be able to charge any repairs and get a cash advance when they take time off.

    Maybe I'm too cynical. LOL

I wanna run OTR 48 state reefer/dry just like I am now, but be able to pick my own loads off DAT instead of having them offered to me 1 at a time like my current carrier does. I do want to *eventually* go under my own authority.

The current freight rates can't be worse than these contract loads my current carrier is trying to get me to run. I tried asking DAT for a demo account so I could see what rates are like.... but they told me I need my authority established for the demo account which makes no sense but oh well.

precisely. that's the stuff I don't want to do, and I'm willing to let a carrier take a percent to take care of it for me. they already know exactly what it consists of and how to do it, so adding 1 more driver to the mix is easy. also fleets get much better insurance rates.

your cynicism is warranted but doesn't apply to me. my position is that I don't want to liquidate my investments to start operating under my own authority. I can buy a tire lol, and I know the cost of taking time off since I'm already on a [scam] lease-purchase gig right now

How much do you think you’ll see every week in your settlement?

Leasing onto a carrier you can expect them to take 25-30% off the top if they’re providing the trailer…probably 30% because you don’t want to liquidate your Beennie Baby collection and get your own credentials..IRP, Ifta etc.

Take off fuel, truck insurance (bobtail/non trucking liability) and everything else..elog fees tolls etc etc. There ain’t much left.

    Oh and a truck payment..

my current carrier already takes ~30% and I already pay all those things you mentioned, I can see them on my weekly settlement. my net before taxes is about $2k/wk... but that seems to be getting lower and lower and they're always offering me garbage loads 1 at a time. I want a load board.

why can Landstar offer a loadboard but seemingly no carriers offer self-dispatching via DAT?

Lot's of decent carriers that allow you to self dispatch off any load boards you want. (as long as they approve broker credit)
Leasing on and having them upfront all the costs and finance that is a different story.

    Concorde and D.Tibbitt Thank this.
