    Not to butt into a question you were directing at Redtwin, but when we were talking on here a few days ago I mentioned a post in December on the company Facebook page about Okeechobee. I was going to let you know that they posted another one recently that is more up to date and has several open positions listed. I’m not sure if you follow the page, but you might want to check it out if you’re interested. There were quite a few on the list.

    I’ve always ran OTR, so I’m not familiar with the day to day routine of our local drivers. I don’t want to speculate and accidentally put inaccurate information out there, so I will let someone else speak on it. I will say that I have heard who is currently overseeing and dispatching the Okeechobee loads now, and I can tell you that they are easy to work with and get along with. I don’t like putting names on the thread, but I dealt with them a lot when they were dispatching some of the loads that I haul.

    I rarely see the same driver twice within six months, and the ones I do see are OTR like me. If I hear anything about what the local side is like I’ll pass it along, though.

    They have a different setup there than the rest of the company. Loads aren't dispatched via the Qualcomm, they have a spreadsheet that is constantly updated and the loads assigned to you are listed there. You basically look for your name on the list to see which farm you are picking up from and where it is going.

    All the loads I ran were within 150 miles of the farms so you can use Ag Exemption to run them and it is used a lot, more than I would like to. They have day cabs, but also a few drivers with sleepers but I don't know if they were local drivers or OTR drivers filling in like I was.

    Most of my loads went to Miami, and I-95 traffic can get overbearing down that way so you have to be able to handle that.

They weren’t exaggerating about the blizzard. The snow is deep up here. The roads weren’t too bad coming in, but the side streets were horrible. Plow trucks and front end loaders are out everywhere. I put a few chains on once I arrived just to avoid getting stuck while dropping and hooking.

    This was the end of another 3,000+ mile week for me. I go to Bensalem from here. Hopefully, I-95 and the NYC area will be cleared off by the time my break is over since I will be rolling with an empty tank.

    There is a police station 5 minutes from the milk plant right across Rt 29. There is limited parking across the street. Beware as I often see a White Volvo bobtail parked there. ;)

    Dropped in Arcadia yesterday then bounced to the yard for a 34. Got called into safety for my dash full of stuffed Pokemon, had to catch em all, lol! Moved them to the bunk. Truck was nasty dirty from all the salt and sand in the PNW on down and got a message about that too, was gonna get it washed when I got up this morning. Had to get stocked up on groceries and will load in Lake Wells tomorrow morning going back to Spokane.

    It sounds like they’re keeping you hooked up and rolling. I’ll be glad when they don’t have to put deicer on the roads anymore, too. It’s hard to keep a clean truck running around the northern states this time of year.

    Lake Wales is strict about wearing a vest and hard hat on property just so you know. After you get loaded, you’ll have to know your trailer seal numbers when you walk up to get your BOL. They will make you tell them what they are before handing it to you to sign. I usually take pictures of mine.

    I woke up to a melted, clear parking lot in Brockton earlier. The side streets getting back to the highway were still really bad, though. I left my chains on until I got to the on ramp. I think this trip was the most snow I’ve ever seen. I assume the plow truck contractors in the Northeast will be eating good for a while.

    Hello! There’s so much on this forum to read I figured I’d just ask questions for myself. I have 14 months dry van experience and I am attending orientation for IRT on 3/4 at the Winter Haven, FL terminal and wanted to know what I could expect? Also I live about 45 mins away from the Cordele, GA terminal, I applied for a regional lane out of there it said “dedicated milk account” and listed certain states I would be operating in. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this account and could give me some insight, like will I really only be hauling milk and operating in those states? Thanks!!
