I know exactly the one you're talking about. It shocked me when I saw it because I wasn't expecting to see it (or any truck stop) out on that stretch. Very pleasant, timely, and welcome surprise.
We're seven pages deep in this thread so I don't know if I mentioned it previously, but Stone's Truck Stop up in Watertown SD was always my favorite little hideaway. They made some changes the place two or three years ago so it's not as quiet a hideaway as it used to be. The bar, game room and pool table are still upstairs, but they turned what used to be the lounge upstairs into all offices, and moved the TV room downstairs on the main floor. It used to be so quiet up there away from all the foot traffic. That plus the plush reclining chairs up there plus the free internet plus the $1.50 wash/dry plus the restaurant downstairs plus the pool table/game room plus the balcony (when it was open) equaled a nice quiet weekend hideaway.
What’s your favorite truck stop?

Baker Truck Corral. Baker City, OR I-84. The truck stop is a 10-12 minute walk to the historic downtown.

Found a good truck stop/restaurant a few weeks ago in Illinois.
Cindy’s on 34. I39 exit 74.
Good food and service and good parking.
I only had breakfast, a western omelette. But it was good and reasonable price. Better than anything at the megas.cke, hotrod1653 and navypoppop Thank this. -
parking lot is horrible there but the restaurant is very good. I think that place is Indian owned now.D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

Seems like the indians are buying up all the good spots. They took over boise stage stop a year or two ago. Seems like they havent run it into the ground yet but its just kinda sad to seecke, 48Packard, navypoppop and 1 other person Thank this.

I still like that place but those Punjab joints I try to avoid for the most part.
The little place down the road in Mendon, OH is okay and I usually go there when in that area. They’re Indians too but are kind of cool higher caste Indians. The place on the corner of 33 and 127.navypoppop, Tall Mike and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
I miss the old Key Truck Stop in Channelview and the Silver Spur down in The Valley. The old truck stop in Laredo off Santa Maria was another favorite.
Those weren't places for the new breed or the meek.kemosabi49, cke, buzzarddriver and 2 others Thank this. -
Yep, those were the places where you didn't get out of the truck after dark.RockinChair and Tall Mike Thank this.
