Ruan. I'm running on Mission Foods just north of Minneapolis. I've been quite happy with them until I got here. The first account they put on was really easy, I asked to stay put, but no luck with that. I'm running Flex 5 weeks on 1 week off. They put me in a hotel the whole time and I'm paid hourly.austinmike, Lonesome and 77fib77 Thank this.

So they put you where they want you to be, but not where you want to be.
How does the hourly pay thing work? How much per hour and under what conditions?
Is the hotel for that one week in five, or when you are doing those 5 weeks?
I would imagine it would be hard to find hotel/motel rooms with truck parking every night.
And what are the home time days like when you actually get home?Mega Express Thanks this. -
Deal with it until you can't. Your still building experience. Hourly, at least you get paid for their #### ups. Just document their mistakes. Like the wrong trailer thing.Last edited: Feb 27, 2026
austinmike, tscottme, Bean Jr. and 3 others Thank this. -
In an earlier post, you said they contacted you, after you had slept only a few hours. Why did you leave your phone on, when you are off-duty/sleeping?

There's some things I really like about this job, and then of course some things I don't like at all.
The worst part is of course I never get to choose which account I'm on or where I'll be working. Basically luck of the draw. And of course they mostly need help on their worst accounts. There's 3 of us flex drivers here right now, and there's only 9 permanent positions on the account. So that should give an indication, no one wants this job.
But I am paid well. Very well actually. It does come with a weekly minimum for 50 hours, which they honored the one week I lost a day because of that gnarly snow about a month back. I think most of the time it won't be hard to get over 50 hours anyways. The pay is pretty simple. It's the same all the time any on duty or driving.
The hotel I book myself thru the travel agency, just booked this room in Minneapolis for 34 nights. When I get home time they fly me both ways, but otherwise I'm on my own. It's 7-8 days off depending on if you leave on Saturday/Sunday. So I don't have to find truck parking at hotels, except maybe if I get in a weird situation.austinmike, tscottme, Lonesome and 1 other person Thank this. -
Yeah I'm going to embrace the suck....
If they get me a sleeper truck that's not already some other dudes that would simplify my job a lot because then I wouldn't have to think about the routes much and could just concentrate on work. Shouldn't be hard to rack up hours in this account. I wouldn't mind getting some fatter paychecks. Even if I have to deal with the stupidaustinmike, Lonesome and 77fib77 Thank this. -
I was just awake already because I was used to getting up in the mornings. but they changed my whole schedule the day before. So they didn't wake me but they still annoyed me and tried to get me to come to work 5 hours into a 10.austinmike, Lonesome and 77fib77 Thank this.
