I can’t believe some 23 year old kid drove off in a $262,000 car hauling truck. I’m mean that’s some next level wild stuff there.

He already owned a carhauler and knows how to make money. 2 loads in and he had the maximum payload on it that I built it for. He is going to be just fine and he has me and his Dad to help him along the way, but I doubt he will need much help.Opendeckin, Long FLD, D.Tibbitt and 8 others Thank this.

The thing that freaks me out about those, besides falling off of one, is how difficult it is to keep an eye on everything underneath the truck and trailer. With how low they sit and how covered up everything is I mean. And finding shops able to work on it might be harder too I'd imagine.

You got to be careful up top and when they preach 3 points of contact, they mean it. I had a shop for most of my owner op years that specialized in carhaulers within a couple miles of the yard I loaded at. Generally you want to use someone who works on carhaulers because some repairs needed someone who was familiar with them to know the trick to getting it done. My last few years I found a Carhaul Mechanic in my town that had a take home service truck and he came to my parking spot to do repairs. It didn’t get any better than that and he was an awesome fabricator which really helped. Keeping track of everything really just meant you stopped in the first hour or so and looked it over good every time you stop. Same as most Professional Open Deck Drivers check their equipment. This guy had worked on Carhaulers for 20 plus years and was awesome! He probably will do the heavy lifting on my new rig if I go that route.Opendeckin, Long FLD, D.Tibbitt and 2 others Thank this.
