That's the kind of lateral thinking that will get you blocked. ;)

Shaffer drivers seem to top out at $95k. I made $125k last year with half of it being on "probie pay". On track for $145k this year, but even if it was only $125k, a $30 k will easily cover a studio apartment, a beater car, and a twice a month flight home.

a lot of times when they preplanned me on a load that has a lot of time. The first thing I do is I ask them where do you want the load T called at? that way, the load at least gets picked up and dropped at the nearest yard and then I can grab something else and more times than not. They’ll just tell me to turn the load down which I do at that point

I make decent money doing this, not LTL money, but pretty good for the area I live. Based on my average weekly pay he could do 5 weeks on, 1 week off, and based on the average airline ticket from here to Orlando (I don’t know where he lives) he’d be a little ahead of Crete’s top pay of $95k when it’s all said and done.

You know you have a long trip ahead of you when all the fuel stops won't fit on the same screen. Of course it would help if they didn't insist on having me run a transcon load 60 gallons at a time

When I was with dynamic..they would only fuel at loves and only specific locations period..the only time they would allow other locations that aren’t on their fuel list is if they wanted you to play the fuel game because of weight issues and have stop everytime you turn around so to speak to put just enough to get past the nearest scales legally before putting more on..

I really can't understand why these companies try and save a few dollars and cents with multiple fuel stops. It is a waste of the drivers time, wear and tear on the truck engine starting and stopping and causes more time spent on a delivery than is necessary. Back in my day the company that I was driving for allowed you to fuel so you wouldn't run out and you gained the points for showers where you wanted to stop. Glad I'm retired as it was easier then.

It has a lot to do with the fuel taxes and the discounts that they’re getting at specific stops and a few other variables… @Long FLD is knowledgeable on this ..pump price is not what they’re paying nowhere near it. That’s what a lot of drivers don’t understand

I understand the discounts but isn't the discount the same with a fuel company wether it is Pilot, Loves or TA? Also an OTR driver surely isn't being paid hourly or per fuel stop or is he?
