After 7 years leased to FCC I made the decision about a month ago to make the move to Oakley to pull an end dump. They have three divisions Hopper bottom, end dump, and pneumatic tanks. This is a 100% owner operator company.
I showed up in N. Little Rock, Arkansas Sunday, they provided a nice hotel for four days (Wyndham) breakfast buffet paid for and lunch provided. You fend for yourself for dinner. Orientation is not paid.
The orientation is very thorough, three days in the classroom, and the fourth day practicing dumping on their yard, and a road test. I am currently waiting on my trainer/mentor to show up. I will follow him for several days loading at the same places and dumping at the same customers. Once he’s comfortable and I am comfortable we will part ways.
If your truck is 5 years or older, your truck has to get approved to lease on. Mine is right on the line, so I had to send pictures to get approved. Once leased on you can keep that truck leased on as long as you like, it just has to pass an inspection every 90 days.
They have a very strict appearance policy, no beards or goatees. Hair can’t touch the collar, must stay freshly shaven, no three day growth. Military regulation mustaches are fine. No shorts at customers, flip flops, sweat pants, or pajamas bottoms. They will cancel your lease in a heartbeat if you don’t follow their policies.
They expect you and your equipment to put forth a professional image. I’m prior military, so I appreciate the standards they require.
In the end dump division my current loaded pay will be $2.47 loaded and $2.02 empty. (I will be making more here empty than I did at FCC loaded) Those numbers include FSC paid and loaded and empty miles. The pay a base pay loaded, plus .25 cpm additional bonus to keep your CSA clean. They also pay a .10 cpm loaded freight surcharge. Every loaded mile you run in a year from the end of orientation to your anniversary, they pay a .10cpm bonus on your anniversary date.
About 22 years ago I pulled a 24ft end dump for a bit, but these are 40ft. I’m nervous and excited to get started. I hope the guy I’m going to shadow for the next week or so is knowledgeable and willing to instill his wisdom in me.
I will try and update this thread weekly as I’m learning and getting comfortable in this new endeavor.

As a former pneumatic bulk guy I know the Oakley name and its reputation. You will be a good fit. Best to you and hopefully you’ll retire there.

Any particular reason you chose end dump over a pneumatic?

A very interesting "twist" here....since YOU ACTUALLY STARTED the "FCC" Forum thread (another very good read, thank you
).
Clearly -- FCC has lost a real trouper....

There’s a few of us on here, @motocross25 included that can help you navigate the way of end dump within this thread, don’t hesitate to ask. I said it years ago on another thread, and I still live by it today, “don’t get in anyone else’s hurry” when pulling a frameless.
Friend, rollin coal, viper822004 and 6 others Thank this.
