Been getting well over $3 on long hauls last few months..
Problem with me is I’ll go broke waiting for the good loads
Unfortunately my fuel costs $0.80 per mile now.
Picking up in Carlisle, IA Monday and heading home.
They’re saying that the surrounding Gulf may stop producing oil due to the conflict and that price per barrel will double..My math says it could mean $8 - $10 per gallon.
Freight tonage has been in the tank for a few months…
Will load rates be good for a couple years??

I’m not saying he ain’t or you ain’t, but without context 3 pm all miles doesn’t really say much.cke, Old_n_gray and Concorde Thank this.

Well I can only speak for myself. I deadhead a lot lately and can’t put two $3-4 pm loads together without.Opendeckin, cke, Siinman and 1 other person Thank this.

I’d rather eat the deadhead to get a good one than take cheap ones. Even if the total revenue ends up being the same. I don’t want to reward bad behaviorOliverCallenderIII, RushmoreTrucker, Opendeckin and 6 others Thank this.

Are you pulling reefer or something other than a dry van out west? I have too much debt at this time to play footsie negotiations with these 19yr old TQL punk kids.
Talked with the Kag terminal Mgr this a.m. and she said Im as good as hired once I get the compressor/pump on my Mack Anthem. Loaded both ways but I'm joining the tanker army again..being told where and how to run. But for $20k to the bank a month I can do it for a while..cke, Old_n_gray and Concorde Thank this. -
I agree. I rarely deadhead more than 50 and never over 100. You can do that in dry van world easily if you know your lanes.
$3pm on all miles, period. Not sure how else to explain it. I've run about 12-1500 miles per week, 3-4 days out for the past year and a half. I know that isn't killing it in overall income but it's a great average in dry van world and it's all I want to work lately. Busy with life out of the truck since I bought a bunch of property.Last edited: Mar 7, 2026

Long as it’s working for you! That’s all that matters. I figured you weren’t running 3,000 miles a weeks. I run similar only with an rgn. And 350-400 deadhead is common. Might run 2-2500 on a busy week

I pull a Dry Van and just chase profitable loads. Doesn’t matter where I go, money talks.
Lol, TQL, I’ve been signed up with them for 4 years and just did my first load with them at Christmas. U-Haul blankets from Laredo to Oregon $8,000 light load. I bid $1,500 over what they were offering and they gave it to me without any negotiation. I’d have done it for 7k, lol. Got paid without any problem and was surprised actually at how fast the money went into my account.
I just bid crazy rates and I could care less about “what the lane pays”. I don’t waste time calling anyone.
Just did a two day load Des Moine to Orlando for $6,000 was something like $4.45 per mile.
Picking up the identical load Monday for $3.25 per mile. Although significantly less, I’m happy with it. The $6k was an anomaly.
That KAG gig sounds great, at least you’ll have some security and peace of mind.
I’d like to get a regular gig and stay regional. My health is failing and I need to stay out of the mountains.RushmoreTrucker, cke, OlegMel and 3 others Thank this.
