With diesel prices going up fuel theft is going to start being a real problem. What is best, locking fuel cap or anti siphon? Locking fuel caps for deterence? Nothing will work in they just drill a hole in the tank but maybe the deference factor would help.

Step bit goes through a fuel tank in seconds
I like the anti syphon tank, no damage, thieves just move on unless truck is in isolated area far from prying eyes

I think I would rather loose $500 in fuel vs having somebody drill a hole in the bottom of the tank and have to replace it and also still loose the fuel.

Locks keep honest people honest. A thief will cut your locks or find another way in.

Yup had a couple illegals drill a hole in the bottom of my tanks back when fuel was getting up to $8 a gallon. They still got the fuel, but i ended up with a $7800 tow and a bill for new tanks for my trouble. And it was that TA in chicago so a busy area and they still got me and every truck along that fence.

What?! That's a secure pay lot if you're talking about the one in Zion off Russell Rd.

I don't stay there overnight either because parking is $30 unless you buy 60 gallons of fuel or stay for less than 2 hours, which I don't ever now because it's IL bio-blend crap and the aftertreatment system doesn't like that stuff. The only thing good at that exit is the Indian takeout food at the Pilot across the street.

Being careful where you leave your truck unattended for very long is going to be the best defense. Not saying I'm calling BS or anything but I'd love to see how some thieves drilling holes in tanks and then catching 10's of gallons fuel that came gushing out wouldn't make a ton of noise or cause a huge mess that would attract attention or wake people up.

I've seen fuel thievery once I think, or the aftermath of it. Truck World in Hubbard, OH. I woke up there on either a Saturday or Sunday morning and saw that somebody had siphoned at least one tank on a Cassens car hauler rig, which being a day cab, was obviously unoccupied and probably not in any danger of moving at 2 or 3 in the morning when it likely happened. Opportunistic thievery more so than anything truly daring but that still takes balls to go messing with another truck like that.

The one off I94 by gary, exit 5 or 6 that butts up against that fence at the back.

Oh yeah, all them joints along 80/94 in NW Indiana are bad news. I’ve pulled into that one in Gary once during the day for a 30 minute break and no way in hell I’d ever stop there for the night.

The TA and Pilot in Porter at exit 22 are okay. Loves in Michigan City at the 34 is brand new and huge.
