Good deal, I will use them. wonder if the old account cards will just reactivate or will we have to start a new account.

    Another bankruptcy in the works.
    APU's are the future.

The few times I used IdleAire, the AC smells like stale cigarettes. Who wants to pay for that?

    stlsports Thanks this.

That's true about APU's but the future will be battery powered ones. There will be a use from some type of shore power option. If IdleAire can meet that need with a low cost option they can survive. The conglomerate that bought them is also big into wind farms, bio-diesel and other sources of alternative energy.

Who knows some day there may be dedicated idleair lots under wind turbines. That would really be the best way to do it...away from the truck stops with some sort of reservation system to guarantee users a place to park. The real estate is more valuable than the service.

According to Land Line, Thomas O'Brien, TA's president and CEO is leaning toward dismantling the Idleaire equipment at its locations. They believe the system is extremely expensive to operate and has a limited life. Out of the 131 locations nationwide, 90 of them are at TA/Petro Truckstops.

I still seriously wonder if Convoy Solutions, the new group, ever read the SEC filings back when Idleaire was trying to go public.

I really would like Shorepower to become more available, as they provide a simple electrical outlet to plug your APU into for a much more affordable cost. Right now I think they only have about a half dozen sites or so. I haven't checked in a while.

I didn't think about shorepower and I used to have a houseboat.

That would be a good idea. :biggrin_25525:

All except for the driver dragging a power cord down the road. :)

Any time ive used an apu its smelled like stale cigarettes...

on most trucks apus are mounted in the worst place possible, where its possible to damage with a trailer. come ON...

on mine its so far back its touching the front fender on the rear axles. and someone has hit it with a trailer but got lucky and just bent the apu cover.
