So I will make a whole long story short. Not in a trillion years did I think I'd get my DL, so imagine my surprise when I managed to study hard, and read the entire CDL manual from front to back while working and was able to go get my permit w/ my Doubles/Triples endorsement as well then went to school and passed only 3 months after getting my regular DL. Now that's where this post comes in, after going to school and passing(finally), I was supposed to be hired right out of school to team drive with my Mom through a company however; that didn't come about, instead as soon as I called the guy who was set to hire me out of school, he told me they were having a hiring freeze and they wouldn't possibly be hiring until almost March/April aka this month/next month.
So I knew I had to try to find another company, so I called many companies, but again, due to my lack of experience with a regular DL let alone exp. driving CMV's, no companies wanted to give me a shot without either A. 6 months Regular DL exp. B. 6 months of CMV Tractor/Trailer Exp. Then I had a accident, I was cited for being at fault, and the other gentlemen was cited for driving under a suspension and as of right now he has a Bench Warrant for his arrest. Now JB Hunt and many other companies still won't touch me even more, now than before, because, "even though your ticket was dismissed, the crash happened, and we consider it a preventable accident" now it's months after getting my CDL and have had no luck finding any work and as time goes on, I am nervous about what it'll be like to get back into a big rig if I even get lucky to get back into one- so I guess I want to know, do you think I am screwed? Should I keep my medical certificate and CDL active and then get some more regular driving experience, then take a refresher course, or what should I do? I was going to give Western Express a shot but my mom said Western Express and CR England are TERRIBLE companies, and don't get me wrong, I understand I am in no position to really negotiate but I want to make sure I am at least going to a reputable company that at least gives somewhat of a #### for it's drivers and will help train ones that have not been in a rig for a few months, to ensure they aren't just tossing them in the deep end.
What now?

Go with Western Express or CR England; whichever one will take you. I think CR England requires 3 mos . experience these days.

Don't call Western Express. Submit the short app from the website first. -
Where is your location? Which state and nearest city/town?

I won't lie, I kinda chickened out on Western Express, I called them in like December/January and wanted to ask them a ton of questions about the job and such and when the recruiter was more just like let me get you set up so you can get to Orientation, I chickened out and said I was too scared to start right off the bat in the winter cuz I was a new driver and I never drove during the Winter(but truth was, when I saw how much of a rush he was in to get me to just apply and go to Orientation, Alarm bells went off in my head and so I panicked and made up that poor excuse, because I was more worried about what I'd get stuck doing if I just agreed to jump on a bus to go do Orientation for 3 days then go OTR for 2 weeks before then getting thrown into a truck alone if I did good enough), so you think they'd still give me a chance?

Doesn't matter if a company is good or not; you need a job and need to get started.

Yeah I guess, I am new to trucking, never done it. Like I said, I only did get the CDL because I thought I was going to team drive with my mom. Or else I might of waited a bit longer, you know?

Give western express a try. Dont be scared of winter driving. Know that you can do it and you will. I did it.. also check out May trucking. You can get good experience there.

I am not scared of winter driving, it was a dumb excuse because I was too worried about how fast he was trying to get me to come to Orientation, maybe it was just me but at that time my record was sparkly clean, and it just didn't seem right to me why he was in such a rush to get me to come to Orientation. But if I had the chance now, I'd just go for it. I just want to know I am not setting myself up for failure, but the thing is, it feels like I'm setting myself up for failure if I don't even try.smokey12 Thanks this.

Sometimes, a new driver with no experience, makes a recruiter shy away or even just hang up the phone, if the new guy bombarding him with dozens of questions. You don't really know what to ask anyway.
Right now you just need a job, so let the recruiter ask the questions.
@smokey12 mentioned May Trucking. That's a good starter company also. Submit the short app from the website. The only question you need to ask is "When can I start orientation?"
