That's what I would do. It won't get above freezing until Wednesday so those roads will probably stay bad for awhile. And there is another inch or two of snow forecast for Tuesday.

I was headed to Chicago from Nashville area but snow and ice was bad on I-65 and Hwy 41 through IN. So I was going up I-55. Strong crosswinds, cold, blowing snow, not deep snow. I thought I was doing great, I was doing 55 mph while others were creeping at 40-ish. "I'm a hero" until the crosswind broke the trailer tandems free and then I fish-tailed like 304 in a rap video. I barely kept that thing on the road and my knees started shaking hard once I thought it was safe and I didn't wreck. Drove the rest of the trip at 40, like everyone else.

The faster your speed, the easier it is for wind to cause you to lose traction. At each moment your truck/trailer is putting less pressure on the ground just by going faster. Maybe you've seen people ride a snow machine or motorcycle across a pond or lake. They don't do that at very slow speed, but they haul booty across the water. Or, pull tankers and crosswinds are a thing of the past.

Disrespecting the weather is often the biggest and most fatal decision drivers make.

I just dead headed back home. Found that I had ungodly amount of ice built up on my trailer lines last night and broke a few things. Gonna fix them tomorrow when it warms up.
