A company that pays people to forge logs will also steal money from you and leave you high and dry.
IRS says at least 80% of the companies they investigate are illegally paying employees as 1099 independent contractors. 1099 isn't always a scam, legitimate companies use 1099, but scam companies almost always use 1099 in furtherance of their scams.Sc0obyDoo, Toomanybikes and JB7 Thank this. -
Ask for a nice open road trip for your first trip back and honestly it’s like riding a bike. Just always remember to use your mirrors and double check everything especially as you come back and you’re a little rusty. It won’t take you but a day or two and it’ll be like you never left.

Not a bad deal but…it’s an apartment. If you like out west, they have affordable places to live there too. Live the rest of your life while you still have it.

Where ? I know California & Nevada aren't cheap
-
Everyone already lives the rest of their life.

Better yet, put that 30% in a money market account where it'll get 3% to 4% interest.
Only downside is you'll get another 1099 to go along with your 1099.

since retiring, my body has given me many chanllenges in life, some pretty tough to deal with.
I sure do miss the memories beind the wheel. -
I loved trucking for nearly 14 years, and I started late in life at 55 years old. Many fond memories.
But as people get crazier and the electronics get more intrusive and I get more fragile... for me 69 was a good age to retire.
