Is it even worth starting a career in trucking right now?

A huge issue right now is there are too many green apprentices and Journeymen with experience get snatched up very quick. Its hard to get your own work done when somedays it seems like there's an endless line of apprentices needing help.

Yea I hear that, in the US, most of the shops I visited during my time in Oil and Gas (Case, JLG, Komatsu, Hitachi), usually had a Jman, who's only job, was to work with Apprentices. Often times, it would be sub foreman, and the foreman would also help out. The apprentices seemed a lot happier down there, and the shops seemed a lot cleaner, and more productive.

Right now, I'm seeing the same pattern I seen in Automotive 25 years ago. No time to train or mentor, gotta turn hours/work, push push push, then wonder why they don't have anyone, when guys retire.

Its not quite that bad in HD yet but the big dealer chains really push the efficiency.
