suspicious SAIA offer.

    Recently was offered .86cpm by saia in what im assuming is an overnight position.

    Recruiter posted .86cpm as a ltl line haul, out of a midwest corridor.

    Whats the catch?

    The terminal theyre recruiting me out of is small, clean, well lit, and i rarely ever see their drivers hook their own sets, always seems like a drop and hook situation.

    The trucks seem newer or at least new enough to have the led cascadia lights factory.

    Technically yes, as it was an official job post offer. Although, they could change that during interviews as most companies try to do.

    Its just roughly .15-.25cpm higher than their postings barely year ago which has me suspicious.

    They have recently raised rates and that isn't that unusual of a rate for Saia linehaul. If it is nights it will be 100% drop and hook, however you will likely build and break sets on one end, if not both, unless it is a meet and turn.

    Their trucks are fairly new. Safety is very firm and has high expectations. They run seniority based eventhough they are non-union so your bid can change.

    My brother worked for them for a while. He loved it, but the job wouldn't have been for me. Too much repitition every night.

    I am sure there is someone here that works for Saia that may be able to give you some insight.

    I have been an owner operator for so long, companies I once thought were ok no longer are.

    Ask about the runs and where they go, usually starting out you’ll run 150-200 miles to a hub and then return.
