CDL School: Truck Driver Training at Knight CDL Academy
~
I found this on Knight Transportation. You can ask the recruiter for clarification.
~
Knight Transportation does not provide meals or lodging for CDL students. Students are responsible for their own transportation and lodging expenses during the training period. However, they will receive a weekly salary to help cover these costs.Last edited: Mar 25, 2026 at 3:01 PM

All the trucking company schools listed provide transportation, meals, lodging. You can ask about that also when you talk to a recruiter.

If you don’t have a single clue on how trucking operates, you’re in for a rude awakening. Use the search feature above and start there. Countless of threads. Goodluck.TurkeyCreekJackJohnson, Peplow, TripleSix and 1 other person Thank this.

1. What are the different trucks that you see and what are they hauling? Going to different sections on this site will add to that.
2. The ones that require the most experience and expertise.
3. Use the search function here to find things about the different types of pay. As a new driver you would be probably be paid in cents per mile.
4. As a new driver you have no options. You take what they offer, because you need the job more than they need you.
5. I have no idea what AAS is with you. If you don't have money you can try to get funding through your state's unemployment options or go to a company training program. The company option is sometimes the best, because if you make it through their training you have a guaranteed job. There will be some conditions in that relationship, such as working for them for a certain period of time before you won't owe them any money for that training. It is usually 1 year.
But be careful which company you go with. Some require you to be a team driver or to lease one of their trucks, and both are bad options for a new driver.
Most will require you to pay back the cost of the training during that first year with weekly pay deductions, and I know of one that will pay you back that cost at the same rate during your second year if you stay with them.CatAstronautCrew Thanks this. -
You’re asking the wrong questions. You’re asking about the top when the overwhelming majority will fail as soon as they get into a truck.
1. Why do so many noobs fail miserably?
2. Can anyone give me some info so I don’t fail so quickly like most do?
3. How do I set boundaries with dispatch?
4. Any tips for dealing with trainers?brian991219 Thanks this. -
Go to your local BMV to get a CDL Manual to read through and answer the review questions at the end of each chapter. Here's a link to the state tests and Pre-Trip exams.
