Had a friend who was driving his RV, he got popped. He had a CDL. He hired a lawyer, cost him 10k. He got it dismissed.

I was just wondering if the 3 year hazmat suspension applies if you get a DUI while driving your personal vehicle.

Yes. It doesn't matter if you're in a personal vehicle.

A DUI is a DUI Period. And you’re supposed to notify your employer. Most won’t. They’ll roll the dice until the there insurance company does a check.

    ESAFO and tscottme Thank this.

The link in my first posts, if you click on it, shows you get a 1 year disqualification/cancellation of your CDL if you get the DUI in your personal vehicle without other negative conditions. I haven't seen ANYTHING, ANYWHERE that suggests any effect on your endorsements. Of course, with a canceled CDL you can't use your CDL endorsements until your CDL is valid again.

A hazmat suspension is really the least of your worries.

As a condition of employment that OP signed that will result in immediate termination when they do discover it. Might even get terminated reporting it within whatever time frame he agreed to when he hired on. There's no good way out of any of it.

Don't tell them ####. Let them find out on their own when they do a random/annual background screening. Just collect what money you can while you can and maybe you can get back on with a trucking company as a SAP driver later.
