Eld’s has been the devil in many things. The guys who sware by them will never see are believe that. Most just think being on paper was all about being an outlaw but it wasn’t. It was about flexibility more then anything else. Eld’s I believe has created the parking crisis and the truck stop circus more then having “more” trucks on the road. Eld has shifted everyones driving schedules to the same exact hours. No one can drive at night anymore or odd times because of the new clock will not allow it. It has became a daytime gig now more then it ever has. After my 15 hr day job, I made a little 40 mile round trip with some hay bales last night between 8 and 10 on IH10 east of SA and all the truck stops were packed with campers already. Then Im looking at the diesel price signs and seeing $5 to $5.15 so I just settle in at a right lane 62 sweet spot and let the engine bleed off some manifold and fuel pressure and breathe. Everyone still on the toad was flying by with the afterburners lit bright to beat that clock.

With your attitude, you'll never earn any.

Bullschitt, if you didn't care what I think then you wouldn't keep replying to me.

I reckon the feeling is mutual more often than not.

That's what I appreciated from when I started driving back in 1969. It didn't matter wether it was Pure, Union 76, TA, Petro or Mom&Pop they all gave priority and preference to the drivers. Those days are long gone and never to return. I sure do miss those great times.

I would just be happy if they still had a diner, preferably one that's open 24 hours.

I dont miss the phonelines, or the paperlogs. Companies used to run drivers till they dropped.
I have been out here since the 70's, so been there done that. I was high mileage drive for 2 months in a row at IWX, Solo running more miles than the teams. Back then it was just trying to support the family. Would not wish it on any other driver.

Took a run from White Sands (Holloman AFB) to Mercury , NV (Creech Air Force Base). Stopped had a good shower and dinner at Little American Flag, very nice place.
Kind of a one time deal for a friend that got sick after loading, flew out to run this, sure did enjoy the run.

All the Flying J's restaurants were good before Pilot bought them and installed Denny's. They had a good menu and a carving station.

Back in the days of the shower tickets, 100 gallons got you shower tickets AND a 24 ounce t-bone dinner. Plus they were the first truckstop that had real doors on the restroom stalls. As a company driver, the Fishhook was my spot.
