Why Lie About Annual Comps? Waste of Time and YOUR Money...

    The job posting looks good to a CDL-A OTR/Regional with 12+yrs, completely clean record, avg 2-4yrs with historical employers and very varied experience. Why go through the Driver Pulse, rigorous background checking and cost to pre-qualify me for a job you list as $95K-115K, but then when you call to invite me to your orientation and ask if I have questions, you tell me average weekly mileage is 2500-2750 and the CPM is $.58? That math isn't even close... potentially (likely!) $20K below the lower amount of your range.

    Please contact me via PM or response to this thread for a fact sheet about my qualifications... but be HONEST about the pay. My main deal-breaker limitation is that I'll need a Pet policy for my totally clean, 16lb Pug puppy co-rider. You hiring authorities KNOW what a flexible, experienced driver is worth- c'mon, lets make some money together...

    12 years experience? You know good and well that no OTR company is paying 95k to 115k on straight mileage lol. You need lots of accessory pay.

    The other scam is telling you that the company paid health insurance is "like" getting $15k/year. So when they tell you $90k/year but $0.60/mile at 2,500 miles/week, you know how they get that math.

    Hi Bryan- I'm honestly NOT trying to seem stupid, but what kinds of things constitute "accessory pay"? I've been on salary/weekly pay for the past nearly 4 years, but they switched all Company drivers to mileage pay without guarantying minimum mileage... which I realized immediately was a pay reduction based on historical average weekly mileage, so I resigned after three reduced paychecks. Realistically, how much can be earned weekly with "stop", detention or other types of payments? My most recent employer was offering $20 per stop after first two, which usually included a live load/unload backhaul with detention after 2hrs at $20/hour... and $20/hour for breakdown/layover up to max of 8hrs. These common "delay" comps over 2100 or so miles never came close to the 2400 miles I needed to match the salary they took away. Thanks for the reply.

    Yeah... quoting total "package" compensation rather than gross pay is so misleading. With no dependents, the package amount is far less valuable to me than another family person driver with the Company paying 50% of their additional dependents cost. I'm also considering any future employer that has a 401K plan (especially with any matching at all) where I can defer my current, OUTRAGEOUS tax burden- previous employer didn't have one.

    So there are things that I've heard from various drivers at various companies that constituted accessory pay. One driver told me his company paid 15 bucks extra for sweeping out a trailer after every load. Detention, breakdown, layover, all those are examples. I've heard other drivers get paid weekend pay for staying out, holiday pay is out over major holidays, and I've heard drivers get paid hourly, and also x amount of dollars just for moving trailers around the yard or locally. My company has accessory pay, that looks like what is laid out in your post, but the customers we frequent don't hold us up very often so we don't have to worry about detention. You break down, they'll just tow another truck to you or have you come back to the yard with another driver and get a loaner. You'll get paid for teaming those miles. I did get breakdown 1 time since I've been here. It was 4 hundred and some odd bucks. Not great but its better than nothing. It's been almost 7 years thay I've been here and that's the only time ive broken down. So the accessory pay you described is about average across the board for most companies, but the question is can they keep you busy?
