Sounds like an amazing Gig! I had a chance to drive for Kawasaki, when I few started my career and I still think about it to this day. I was in Tooele, Utah, at the Miller Motor Sportpark and Kawasaki had a team there, testing some bikes or something for the races, I cant remember. But their driver quit and just left everything there and took a cab out of the park. I volunteered there for the races and knew alot of people in the Sportbike Clubs, and they knew I drove truck. So several approached me and asked I'd be willing to drive their truck. I had a good job at the time and didnt know anything about that side of the business, so I said I couldnt. But I kinda regret it. I wished I had given it a try back then.
I was honestly wondering how long you would stay retired before the offers started coming in and you started thinking about them.Dennixx and viper822004 Thank this. -
I question what autos they had? Because they seem to be mixed with backing.viper822004 Thanks this.

I've had experience w most all transmissions but it has been like 30 years ago but I'm sure it will come back after a couple miles.
Last 15-30 years I haven't had to shift at all but for 20 years prior all I did was shift manuals. -
Awesome. There is also TV Mobile Group, Veriha, Upstaging, & several others like Game Creek. Shoot, if you wanna make pennies like me, drive for a Drum & Bugle Corps (touring pro junior marching band) 8 weeks late June-early August every summer. Seems like they are always looking for a retired driver...or a driver in-between jobs like I was a few years ago.Dennixx Thanks this.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like they had it with automateds lurching and breaking expensive antennae.
Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this. -
I don't recall. I think I was reading on some other entertatinment trucking site (Veriha perhaps...or maybe Upstaging's site) that passengers or pets are not allowed...sheesh.RockinChair Thanks this.

Nope ain’t no way a driver for an outfit like that only drives. Knew a driver that was on a race team once as a “driver.” He said once the brakes were set the real work began! So after talking to him and the average day the pay just wasn’t worth it unless you are just a race finatic.
Funny this side of the industry has come up, I parked right next to a game creek truck on Monday in Las Vegas. -
I had few friends that drove for the nascar circuit. It was indentured servitude. The second the truck was parked, they were turned into maids, personal assistants, cooks, chauffeurs, bellhops, UBER eats, ect. Like you said, driving was a very small apart of it.
But I also knew guys on the band and theater side of things and thats all the did was drive. Unions would never let them touch anything in the trailers or help with any of the productions.
I dont know anyone who did what Dennixx is talking about. I'd love to see some of those units though and watch them be set up. Looks amazingRockinChair, Cali kid, Rugerfan and 1 other person Thank this. -
Nascar hauler drivers also used to or maybe still do service their equipment. The nascar circuit would be a grind. I'm a fan of the sport but no way I'd want that job no matter what it paid. Never go home for 30 some weeks out of the year, no thanks!
