In a 49x westernstar!! We just replaced the DEF header unit as that’s why we’ve been told it could be but turns out it’s still doing the same thing so what is happening we have 3 codes showing
    AFT SCR OPERATOR INDUCEMENT 3712
    Engines protection torque 6255
AFT Scr operator inducement severity. 6254!

I have the check and stop light on the dash also the orange light for the DEF is flashing! The guy changed the head unit cuz lots of people said that is a problem. But it is still doing same thing so any other advice? If it was wiring wouldn’t it read short circuit etc,,..

You mean DEF heater unit? If you have a 2024 is this not under warranty? What engine? If Cummins you need Insite and can get a basic version for free online. Look up the code(s) and follow the diagnostic procedure.
This bulletin is related to your problem. These fault codes will lead to Fault Code 3714 or 6255 (inducement) within 1 hour and will eventually lead to Fault Code 3712 or 6254 (severe inducement) if not addressed.
Any historical codes besides the 3 active ones you listed?

Yeas the heater unit oops. Mistake. Well it says 09/23 on the door I jsut found out my company was telling me 09/24. But we are about 10hrs away from any kind of westernstar dealer unfortunately so it isn’t so convenient!!

I have the Cummins program for the pro link scanner we have.and no other codes just the 3 I have listed in the original post.

I don't think you need to go to a WS dealer. Emissions should be covered by engine manufacturer. If Cummins call the nearest dealer or Cummins authorized repair center. There is also an emissions warranty that your problem should be covered under. Not sure if they would cover a tow.

No but still a Cummins too we’re out in the bush closest civilization is 5hrs away still lot of money to ship this truck down the road! Unfortunately! Maybe I’ll look into the tow!

also to get those kinds of updates how to I stay in the loop to get those kinds of notices? Cause we called westernstar before we bought this heater unit and they didn’t wanna say anything they told us to bring it in!! So why wouldn’t they tell us about this notice that you sent me?

Would your insurance cover getting the truck to a shop? Call Cummins and tell them your problem, ask them if they could send a tech out to you.
