I-24 sinkhole forces detour in Tennessee

Thanks for the HU! I'm headed home Friday and that hole is in the way. I'll go I-40 east to exit 317 (127,68,27) and down the mountain that way. Brings you out in Chattanooga. Alot better detour than going to Birmingham. Hwy 68 has 4 slow curves and 45mph down the mountain. Other than that is easy sailing. US27 is 4 lane.

 

they are exiting traffic at exit 114 onto hwy 41.takes about 20 minutes longer than staying on 24.i was through there yesterday & today. today wasn't bad they had traffic moving pretty good.

 

Thanks, I live above Chattanooga. It's a coin toss from Nashville either way I go.

ok just thought i would let everybody know that. good luck & be careful.i was through there yesterday & took 2 hrs. from the time i got off at manchester till i got back on at the 127.today it was only about 20 minutes.
