YES! SRT is a Division of Covenant that is managed by the origianal founder Tony Smith. SRT now has over 850 Drivers according to recent documents.

Covenant Transportation Group, Inc. is a group of transportation providers that offers premium transportation services for customers throughout the United States. The consolidated group includes operations from Covenant Transport and Covenant Transport Solutions of Chattanooga, Tennessee; Southern Refrigerated Transport of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Star Transportation of Nashville, Tennessee. The group operates one of the fifteen largest truckload fleets in North America as measured by revenue.

SRT is listed as an Arkansas Corporation - the Directors are:

    TONY SMITH , President
    R.H. LOVIN Jr, Vice-President
    R.H. LOVIN Jr, Secretary
    JOEY HOGAN , Treasurer

At some point the Transport Group aquired shares of Comman Stock from Southern Refrigerated Transport. The Purchase of Comman Stock gave SRT the needed capital to grow and build a multi-million dollar facility in Texarkana, AR.

Day to Day operations remain under the SRT Flag! Research concludes Covenant is the Parent Company.

Here is my recap for april 5, 2010 to May 18, 2010
    out for 6 weeks
    logged 16,500 miles

Put the truck (2010 Cascadia Condo) to the test and took I-70 across the county, started at Fresno CA to Hartford CT

I am impressed with the power on the low end around 1400 rpm

It pulled strongly up the The Tehachapi Mountains near the Mojave Ca-58. The Tushar Mountains are the third highest mountain range in Utah. Its highest point, Delano Peak, is over 12,000 feet high I-70 Utah. anf lastly the Rocky Mountains (Eisenhower Tunnels) they were the highest vehicular tunnels in the world 11,000 feet in elevation when built in 1973 to 1979.

Most Trucks have adverse effects from altitude usually a 3-5% decrease in power for every 1000 ft of elevation.

I will testify that side by side the Cascadia DD15 out performed many of the" Other Big Fleet" trucks attempting the Rocky Mountains, Considering the top end cuts out at 2150 RPM. My Loaded Gross Wt 79,000 lbs.

I am home in New Orleans for a Week R and R

What would you say is the average length of load for SRT? I am looking at going back to OTR and I'd like to stay away from the companies that do lots of short hauls. Also, I'm from Oklahoma City. Is there a lot of freight that runs through OKC?

    Thanks for your interest RedDirtDriver.

We are one of the few Fleets that still have Coast to Coast runs for Solos. As for averages it is between 1200 AND 1800 Mi. per dispatch including mty and loaded. This week my load dropped 6/18 in Piedmont SC and reloaded at Same then dropped at Tuscon AZ 6/22 followed by a reload same day at Casa Grande and delivered Today (6/24) at Scramento, Ca. Picking up load this evening which runs to Mo. and Michigan. 3000 miles

Some of the drivers run for 4 weeks out and they tend to average more miles than the 2 week OTR Driver. "THE LONGER YOU STAY OUT THE FARTHER THEY SEND YOU." 4 weeks out get you 5 days off! ....if you can handle that much time away. Home time is better for drivers near major lanes. Swapped loads get you home and OK is near Dallas. We do a lot of trucking there. Word to the wise, we are forced dispatched and unless your out of hours your ### will be in that driver seat all day.

Thanks so much for the information popmartian.

I grew so tired of the short loads with the Pumpkin that it was one of the main reasons that I quit. Only thing worse than working 14 hour days is when you are picking up live loads at least once or twice a day and you're only going 300 miles down the road to deliver again.

I am considering going back OTR and I want to do it with a company that has at least a decent average length of load.

A few years ago, we had a SRT recruiter that came by the school about once a week and after about two years of this, he showed up unemployed and asking us for a job.

A week later the Covenant recruiter filled me in.
