I've got L/S guard dogs, and if you were to take and advance their IQ like we do their age they would still be a f' kin idiot. I've got one that's been bit three times, and not a one has learned to leave a porqupine (sp) alone. But they can run like an antelope, jump like a deer, dig like a badger, and climb through a hole like a mouse, irritate the ever lovin sh it out of me, and do all those things with equal enthusiasm. So to answer your question. No.

Easiest way we've found is to live where the snakes don't.

I got home Thursday at noon. By 5pm this lil m’fer carries a snake in the new storm door with dog access she bought and installed while we were gone. He caught 2 in Iowa, it’s like he hunts them. So far all just your very average non aggressive garden/yard type snake. But I am sure here at home he is gonna run into that rattleheadedcoppermouth sooner or later

Fun snake shooting....22 rifle, .22 short for minimum bounce if any. Close enough he coils and sways threateningly. Point rifle at head
and begin syncro with his sway. A moment or so and he grooves with you. Put one down his throat.
Old water moc in a brushy pond will play with you. Head and about 6 inches showing. Could pop him and in a few minutes others be active.

That only works if the dog can see the snake in its peripheral vision (that's how my dad broke our dog of chewing the water hose). I guess @wore out could do that with one of those plastic toy snakes.

Doc would let a snake have me, I guess he figured I’m grown I can handle myself. I never held that against him. Spud is a long ways from my best friend. However he is my friend and I am somewhat attached to him. It break my heart if he got messed up. That said I know I gots let him be a heeler dawg and let the chips fall where they may

Tall Mike and tramm01 Thank this.
