Caterpillar question. Need help

    Looking at buying a 2000 W900L with a 2WS cat in it and JUST over 1,000,000 on it. 1,000 288 to be exact. I don't know much about Cat engines so could someone help me out?

    What are you trying to figure out ? A 26 yr old truck with over 1 mil. It's probably been over hauled but maybe not. Is it a co truck or O/O ? Co is bad because it's had lots of drivers. Also, idle time ? Now if you can get it for $500 , might be a good deal !

    They are an engine they can be really good or #### depending on their past. I’m CAT through a through but I’m not gonna praise anything I’ve never seen or know 0 about that’s asinine. I’ll give a very vague they are good engines and leave it at that

    It probably will be expensive to run. Cats back then got about 4-5 MPGs

    2WS when its running right is a strong motor.

    Russ, you remember that gray Studio 900 I drove for Cody ? That was a really good running 2WS (and un governed). Not saying she'd run with anything out of your stable, but strong for what we were doing. I think I still have a pic somewhere of Doc and I sitting by it.

    They will also out pull about anything. A D13, or a DD15 wouldn’t have a prayer against a Cat that’s running right. I had a 3406B that got 6.2 mpg. Smoked like a forest fire too, but it was a dinosaur of a motor. Didn’t much care for the truck, but loved that engine

    I will say the 2WS is my favorite even over the 6NZ.

    6 digit odometer… be willing to bet it’s been around more than once unless you got an ecm dump/verified history

    overhaul is $38-40k with injectors
