    1. BWI Trucking is a trucking company based in Eufaula, Alabama, …
Experience, integrity, and a solid track record have earned Benny Whitehead Inc. a reputation as one of the nation’s leading freight transportation companies in both temperature control and dry products.

    2. I've seen ads that this company hires new cdl school grads from Miami.
    3. Contact and ask if still hiring from Miami and which schools they hire from

Could you, please tell me whether I could study myself, then take the state exam at my local DMV (only $42), and only after having my permit ready go to a CDL school to learn the driving and take the road test ?... Thank you

Brian is our expert on your situation. All I know for sure is you must get the cdl permit, then attend a cdl school.

The FMCSA Entry Level Driver Training regulations require you to get your classroom, range and behind the wheel training from a registered ELDT provider. There is no way around that.

If you are worried about cost, you can get the classroom online from Midwest Driving Acadamey for $99-$199 depending on vlass A or B and extra endorsements. Now, many CDL schools, at least the reputable ones, will still want to put you through their classroom so it will be hard to find a good school that will take online training then just "teach you to drive".

The best bet for a cost effective school is to find one sponsored by your state workforce program or an employer sponsored school.

There are a few schools that will let you do the classroom on your own, but the laws don't allow you to do like the old days and just get your permit then find someone with a truck to practice driving before taking your road test.

Most schools nowadays require students to obtain their CDL permit and DOT medical card before attending. Don't waste money on info that's already available for free online thinking that it'll allow you to skip the line. The "state exam" that you're referring to is only a few written tests you'll have to pass to get your permit (General Knowledge, Airbreaks and Combination). You'll still have to attend a school to learn how to drive the rig (w/ manual shifting), pass the skills test (straight line back, serpentine maneuver, alley dock), pass the Pre-Trip exam, pass the road test, learn Hours of Operations/Log Maintenance, Coupling/Uncoupling; etc. The schools cost for a reason @ANG Trucking
