did anybody ever get asked to quit smoking when attached ti Idleair? Towards the end there, they had no smoking signs posted on the plastic dividers in front of the trucks.

Since the Shorepower company offers a simple electrical outlet for .50 an hour ala carte, then I sure hope your company is going to be offering something in line with that price.
When I spoke with Joe Licari from Shorepower back in 2007, they said they were going to be offering power only for .50 per hour and .75 per hour for power as well as cable TV and Wifi Internet. That was their plan back then.
I haven't been back to the northwest since, so I don't know if that is still the case or not. Right now Shorepower has seven locations total with an eighth opening soon. -
Okay, I just got off the phone with customer service with Shorepower. The prices at all of their locations for power only is .75 to start, then .75 per hour. If you want Cable TV in addition to power, then the charge is 1.00 to start, then 1.00 per hour thereafter.
The Jubitz Travel Plaza in Portland is the only truckstop at this time that currently has wifi internet. They have a daily charge of 4.95 per day for wifi. They said they are working to get wifi internet installed at all of their locations and it's taking a while to get that implemented.
So Idleaire, I hope you're listening to these prices.
I think it's a pretty good deal.Schmidtrock Thanks this. -
I had an APU on my truck 12 years ago; 350 lb boat anchor. My current company was going to put APUs on all their trucks. They stopped at 12, then eventually took them all off. ALL of them were POS.
APUs are just so.......1990. -

APUs have come a long way since 12 years ago. We have a ComfortPro model by Carrier and it works pretty good. If we put the unit into standby mode, the APU engine will turn off once the set temperature is reached. The engine will turn back on automatically as well.
For those nights where the weather is quite cold or hot, I would prefer to plug our APU in because we know the APU will be running most of the night and we can save on engine hours. So the Shorepower will still come in handy if you have an electrically based APU. -
