What can I do with a Class B, tanker/airbrake/passenger/hazmat?

    New here. I'm 52, I have spent most of my life in the security field, I spent about 8 years driving a bus for a private prison and about one year driving a university motorcoach shuttle bus. I'm no longer suitable for security work but I can't retire, so I'm looking at my options as far as driving is concerned. That's why I'm here, I'm hoping to talk to humans instead of poring over bureau of labor statistics and fake articles.

    I currently ONLY have the class B with passenger/airbrake/tanker, and I'm wondering if it's even worth it to add the hazmat if I'm not going to get my class A. Are there enough class B hazmat jobs out there to justify going to the trouble to get hazmat?

    I really appreciate the opportunity to ask people in the industry, thanks.

    Class B CDL allows straight truck/bus gross over 26k lbs & trailer under 10k lbs, if you pull a trailer over 10k lbs you then fall into class A status.
    As for endorsements well that's all on you & what you plan on getting into with your location & job opportunities in your area.

    It really matter where you are as to hazmat opportunities. Quite a few tandem axle or more fuel tanker straight trucks running around in farm country. Bring fuel to farmers, wind & solar energy job sites.

    On the construction side some contractors specifically call for dump trucks vs end dumps for insurance reasons. Assuming less risk of laying one on its side.?

    You already have the B, so look and see what you can find. Having the A always makes ya more valuable though..
