Hi, I'm new. I'm 52, I've spent most of my life in the security field, but I've also spent about 8 years driving a bus for a private prison and about one year driving a university motorcoach shuttle bus. I'm no longer suitable for security work but I can't retire, so I'm looking at my options as far as driving is concerned. That's why I'm here, I'm hoping to talk to humans about commercial driving jobs instead of reading bureau of labor statistics reports and fake articles about the trucking industry.

A little bit about me, I'm from Mesa, Arizona, I can hold my breath for up to about three minutes and one time I saw Brooke Shields in person at the Miami International Airport.

Spend AT LEAST 3 late evenings/nights hanging out in the truck parking area of a very busy truck stop.

Better still -- choose a different truck stop for each visit

Watch what happens in different locations of each parking area...& at the fuel pumps....drink in the noise, the smells, the constant parking & unparking (leaving), the garbage that's almost everywhere....& also...be sure to visit the trucker's bathrooms.

If....after all that you see, hear....& comprehend...having done all this....you're still interested & intrigued by the trucking world....

    go for it!!! o_O

Welcome aboard, and this will be easy,,stay with a stagecoach. I read, ridership is up, and drivers are always being sought after. Since you've had prison bus experience( I heard inmates are worse than children), basically a shoe-in, you will have none of the hassles with trucking, AND, you could probably start tomorrow. I don't think the money is as good as trucking, but trucking is going through a really bad time right now, with companies losing millions every quarter, I'd say a bus driver, hauling all those unemployed truck drivers home, would be the ticket. Good luck.

Good Morning. He is no longer suitible for security work, but all of buss driving probably isn't security but I don't know. I wanted to ask him which were more of a pain......the University group ....or the Prisoners.
Also to say thinking of getting out there and dodging the general public, the awful 4 wheelers playing frogger with Professional Drivers....is a HUGE responcibilty.
Drivers don't get enough credit or pay for what they do everyday !!! THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOU DO.
