I drive down 85 every night and sometimes they'll be a lot of trucks shut down off the ramps where trucks stops are and sometimes cops will have the lights flashing behind the trucks telling them to move away from the ramp and other days, they'll be plenty of trucks shut down off the ramp and they'll just leave them alone. Why even bother them to begin with when there is no sign that says you are not allowed to park off the ramp? I mean sometimes truck trucks stops are full and you just can't get a spot there.
Why do cops harass truck drivers that are shut down off ramps that are right next to truck stops?

It's illegal via a blanket ban in most states, even if there's not a no parking sign. Enforcement varies and they know that can happen when they park there.

Its one of those situations where bad laws set up the field for even more bad laws. And the cop regardless of if you think he is harassing you. Still gots to enforce the laws he had no hand in setting up. That and it IS a ligit safety issue in many cases. Not all as some ramps are wide enough to get fully off the roadway and even have trashcans knowing drivers will do what drivers gotta do.
But in others it can and does cause issues. Or the pigs have been pigs and the locals got mad at the mess and now ##### anytine a truck stops.tscottme, drvrtech77 and Ddh77777 Thank this. -
I’ve never ever in my 46 years of driving have parked on an OFF or ON ramp. You know how fast some idiots are driving of and on those ramps ? If you get hit while been parked, you will be liable, a good attorney will make sure your at fault.
Lonesome, tscottme, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and 8 others Thank this. -
Simply put people have been killed crashing into vehicles parked on the on and off ramps. It's not a safe parking area. It's a hazard to you and other motorists.

Better trip planning so as to not end up there in the first place. And end your day at 2 PM , so you can find a parking spot.
tarmadilo, Trucker61016, RockinChair and 2 others Thank this.
