as i spin my wheels. yet again. we got to GA. My co driver got off the truck and was to tell covenant he quit.
Right! He sent a Marco 5 stating he be back on the truck on the 26Th of 05. Today is the 20Th.What.
I found the Marco on the qc. as he getting is stuff off the truck. I was Del. all the old info. He had been talking to dispatch about home time while getting his hazmat.
they said OK. I sent a message asking do I run sole. Their answer. NO!
I'm to sit with the truck are I can go home. But have to leave the truck hear. What? take a bus. I don't thank so. I don't want to go home. He was to quit.
So I ask want is this about. He tells me he wants to make sure swift will hire him first. Before he tells them he quits. What? So I just sit hear until you decided on what it is you are going to do. NO! This is not what we talked about at all.
I'm don't sitting here. I told him tomorrow he better have all his ducks in a row, I make a decision on what it is hes doing. Or I calling covenant and telling them my self.
I'm not making money sitting hear. I will end up going back to chatt. TN. to get a new co driver. which hey do not pay for.Who knows how long that going to take. and what and who it is. Going all threw the new guy stuff again.
It looks like if i do tell them tomorrow what up with this co drive getting off. I'll still be sitting over the week end, any way until Monday. so that's 4 days no pay. Maybe get a empty move back to chat. what 40 dollars maybe.
Then start the new co driver search. which if I'm lucky be back on the road by the 25Th.
Some people just don't care.
I'm sleepy talk to you laterjtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
I think Covenant will allow you to drive about 250 miles solo (or maybe 120... can't remember), depending on the situation.
Let me know when/ if you get at Chatt and maybe we can meet.
I'm at Chatt now taking my 7 day "hometime". They moved me to another truck (two years newer than the one was driving before). I was hoping to keep that older one till March (it was running well and never gave me major headaches). I knew it was wishfull thinking though and they would sell "my old" truck soon...
About this "new" truck now, spoke with former driver after I did my very thorough inspection.... found some things needed to be fixed /checked and took truck to shop.
I'll be off till the 28th here at Chatt and will be checking on the repairs. Not leaving this terminal till all repairs are done to my satisfaction. But will only know how truck is for sure once I hit the road...
Former driver told me the truck maximums 63 mph...
Will try to get them to set that to (at least) 65.... maybe my dispatcher can help with that.
This "new truck" has a bunk heater. Former driver said it works fine.
Hope you hit the road soon. Keep us posted. -
Sounds cool rocks, I do hope to meet you, so I can thank you in person for all your help. That I'm greatly grateful for.
The new truck sound like a headache it self. Saying good bye to and old friend is hard to do. As you leave your old truck for a new one.
But on the up side you gain a bunk heater. I do have one and it works well. It run you out. But the cool side just blow air around, like a fan. I do not beleave its a a/c of any kind.
My idle time is up to 94.97%. Sitting in miami,fl and orlanda,fl and now valdosta,GA. I have been running the a/c off and on for a while. But I dont like the idea for sweating and then no shower for aday or two. Having to go talk to people on pick ups and drops or just in the piolt. Man what people must thank. About some of us.
They have not said anythang to me about the idle time. As if it would do any good. But hey good luck on that truck hope to see you soon.
Thanks rocks from big wheels.
Now on this messed up co driver thing. I called him today told him to get on the ball and to let me know somethang. He came by today at 1200 and told me he just going to quit and if it does not work out at swift he was not comeing back to covenant.
Great!! How much work have i missed be cause of this. I asked him why could'nt you just done this before hand and not screw me up. His answer was just {i dont know}.
I have told covenant he is quiting. They would like to hear it from him. So told him and he said he'll call.
Covenant.is waiting on his call and will get back to me. Hopefuly I'll be out of hear and get this thing a roll'en. I just hope i get a good co drive this time. When I get back to Chatt,TN. Maybe i'll will not have to wait 4 or 5 days to get a co deriver and a load going out.
Keep the rubber side down I'll talk to you soon. Thanks to all.
As I spin my wheels. Be safe keep it between the ditches and the white lines.Last edited: May 21, 2010

well i haven't heard from covenant. So I guess he didn't call. So I called him.
He told me he was going to the bar. If I wanted to go he'll come pick me up...........
Now I don't know what gave him the idea I would drink with him or go hang out with him. Its not like hes screwin me up are anything. Crazy!
So I said yea sure. What time,and what should i wear.{ like I had a choice}.
I had a idea that I could get him to the truck and tell covenant he quit.
But I have been stood up. I've haven't had this happen in along time. And by a guy.
Anyway my plan fell threw. So tomorrow i'll get on the phone with covenant until i get out of hear. get this think a roll'en.
talk to you tomorrowjtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
today I got on the phone as I taught I didn't get anywhere fast. But I new that was going to happen.
Not all but some up there are scared to answer the phone. I guess. It might make them do more than they want to or the last person they smarted off to on the QC. is on the other end of the phone.
What ever the reason, I'm trying to do my job hear. and I couldn't get any answers.
I sent a message over the QC said my co driver has quit and is off the truck. I got a answer. Yea!!!!!
A very nice and informed person, which the name was not posted. Helped me. They are trying to call my co driver to see if he quit. ?? I guess think I'm going to leave him here. are something.
I went in side the pilot and got on the pay phone. I called him. Because he wasn't answering his phone. guess who answer??? right!!!!
Hello I said. I said in a nice voice as i could. If you don't call covenant I'm going have to come find you. Do you hear what I'm saying.
After a bunch of lies he said he was going o call as soon as he gets off the phone with me. yep!!! yep!!!! that's that.
I have got a message over the QC saying to send a Marco 6 time off. and they are going to get me a load to chatt. TN. As soon as they can.
Now that's the way the office should run. professional, informed people.
I'll let you know what happens next thanks -
I got a load going to chatt.Tn rolling out today.
jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
Call me when you arrive at Chatt. Take care. All the best and be safe.
big wheels Thanks this. -
well I just don't get it some times when it come to employers. I know I walked into this, with both eyes wide open. and all of you told me what was going to happen.
I'm out there trying to do my job. I haven't been home almost 3 months. mainly because i cant afford to. running every load as hard and fast as this truck can go.
Then my co drive quits on the 20Th of May. that night he got off the truck. I had to sit at a pilot in Ga. waiting on covenant to find out he quit. all day May. 21. and a half a day on the 22 of May. That's two days of work i missed.
Got a load going back to chatt. tn. which I got there on the 23rd of May at 0100 am. Because the trailer had a flat tire when I picked it up and had to wait to get it fixed.
The 23rd is Sun. and nobody home at covenant to help with a co driver. So you wait. three days no work. Plus I got to get a dot inspection sticker and wheel hub leaking. My truck didn't go into the shop until that Tues. the 25Th which was out the same day.
on the 24Th Mon. there was no co drivers to choose from got some phone numbers to call. Out of 4 phone number only one had any sense about themselves. He was looking for something closer to his home. same on the Tue.
But late that day I got a call from covenant asking me to get a partner or was going to loose the truck I'm on. Now i got it set up. I don't want that to happen. So after blab blab blob!!! I said OK.
It made know scents to me to choose a co driver if I'm not going any where. We sat all day waiting on a load. On wednesday the 26Th. now that's 7 days on work.
WE was told about a load Thur day then was took off. Got a re power to run up 18 miles to a pilot wait 3 hours to show up for a drive that was going to chatt anyway.
Guess what? The trailer had a flat tire. Called break down and said bring it back to chatt to fix it. Now dispatch is trying to get me to drive on a flat tire. I want and they get mad.
At chatt the tire guy says 30 min and it be fixed. great guys. Tell dispatch and they respond to bring the bills to out bound. I'm took off the load. a hole whooping 38 miles trip that I'm not going to get paid for anyway. Great
So that's 8 days no work. right!! So Friday comes and we are told of a load coming in at 900 pm to pick up and run to bunker hill IL. A short run but a run. It didn't show up until 700am Sat.29. we ran it dropped it and sat. all weekend. and Mon to until Tuesday the 1st of June.
That's a 11 days of work I have missed. How can covenant justified that this fair or even livable. Who can live on this.
Some body is not doing there job of committing to care for the drivers. WE get paid by the mile. Not by the hour. You 40 hour a week people. who get paid the same each week. While you screw us over.
I'm stopping;for now. I ll be back soon.
thanks hey rocks got your pms. I'll get them -
This is Covenant's way of doing things.... one screw up after another. This co. makes a lot of money from hiring students, drivers who have no other place to go because of their records or because they are broke and desperate.
The company receives thousands in federal money for each one of those "disadvantaged" minority for "helping" them to rejoin the working force. Their shuttle van is packed with "new" drivers every week coming to the Orientation building....big wheels Thanks this.
