I am currently actively seeking a CDL-A driver position and live in the Charlotte, NC metro area (Gastonia). I’ll list some qualifications and what I’m looking for below, but the biggest (only?) impediment to my being hired is needing to have my small Pug dog be my co-rider. She is 7.5mos, spayed, fully vaccinated and absolutely doesn’t “do her business” in the truck… the best soul I’ve ever had as a driving partner. I almost accepted a position this week, only to discover they want a $1,000 up front cleaning fee (which they call a non-refundable “deposit”), require the pet to remain caged in the truck at their terminals, and their on-boarding process would require me to find alternative care for her during what would be a 4-6 day orientation and equipment assignment period before we are given the opportunity to reunite. I’m single with no local family or friends to care for her- they suggest boarding her at a kennel… nope! So… are there any carriers that LOVE dogs and would be more supportive of a driver that has one?
About me:
· -12 years current CDL-A driving experience including dry van, tanker (3+ years) and limited flatbed across all 48 in all conditions,
· -Many years pulling HazMat including explosives, weapons, chemical waste and radioactive fuel,
· -No at-fault incidents on record for past 3+ years, clean MVR and never any drug or legal/criminal stuff,
· -Wanting to earn as much as I can over the next 3.5 years to normal retirement age… then “dial it back” a little bit thereafter if I’m still fit, and
· -Available immediately.
Seeking:
· -Up to 18/3 away, but prefer 12/2 OTR country-wide, including Canada but not Mexico,
· -Governed speed of 68+ with a limited boost to pass,
· -Mostly no touch freight- remember, I’ve got a dog with me,
· -Preference for any opportunity to defer taxes- 401K, HSA, portion of pay considered to be travel allowance, etc.,
· -Reasonable PTO accrual during first year and some paid holidays, and
· -Well maintained equipment.
Any leads or advice will be appreciated… and feel free to private message me if you prefer. Thanks gang!

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
