Trust me, I’ve seen how some of these drivers live and act solo, those aren’t the ones I’m with. And also, there are times that even though there’s 2 of us in this sardine can, I’m very good at going through my day like I’m the only one in the truck. I go through my day very nicely, if a consistent problem keeps arising even though I bring it up constantly, then change happens, like with this one. This is a team operation, not a training truck. We are in this truck as long term drivers, not rookies. I left my training hat back in Richmond a few years ago, I’ll never wear it again.

Home sweet home. Right now I’m scheduled to go back on the 12th. But, because I’ll be getting a new ‘26 Volvo. We are waiting on FedEx to assign its number and a dorm fridge to get installed along with a pintle hook installed, I was asked if I would mind having an extra day or 2 off, of course I said absolutely. Meanwhile, I’ll be running team with a buddy of mine that worked at Abilene with me. He too will wait on the word to get to Humboldt. My interim teammate didn’t work out as planned. He quit. We got to the hub I’m assigned to yesterday in Savannah after running a third week of 7000+ miles and got an uber and went to the airport. I get it, this isn’t for everyone, but jeez, have a little class and let someone know you are quitting after 4 weeks. My boss rented me a car, I took all my belongings with me, and drove home. He’ll rent me another car when I go back to Humboldt. The truck I was in is being given to another team. Actually, I rented the car, he’ll reimburse me next week. In the meantime, I’ll be doing a few things on the honey do list. I was only home 2 days after the wife and I got back from Thailand, so now it’s taking care of business at the homestead. Be safe everyone.

Still on hometime. One bit of good news is that my wife and I spent a day and night at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for a 6 month follow up MRI and a sit down with both my neurosurgeons. Everything is healed, no change, or as they call it stable, and was told that my next MRI will be in a year from now. To say we are extremely thankful would be an understatement. It’s been a long year since this all started, and we hold both Dr Byrne and Dr Raymond along with the Mayo Clinic in the highest regard. God is good. Now on to trucking life.

Will be home another few days as the new truck gets ready. All the decals are on, the truck has been approved by FedEx, the chain carrier has been installed and today it’s going to the shop to have the pintle hook installed. I should be back up in Humboldt Tuesday. Now a reason why there are times I despise this industry.

When I’m home, I check my Pilot rewards card. Earlier I did just that and saw my $300+ balance is down to $8. Someone fraudulently used my card in Russellville Arkansas at 2am to buy food items and a couple of 2 gallon jugs of DEF. I want to think that it’s just a mistake on Pilots end, but my mind tells me something else. I know as a thoughtful, helping and compassionate person, there must be a reason someone might do this, but it’s theft, I despise anyone stealing something from me and wish nothing but bad on that person and anyone associated with them. You steal from me and you don’t exist, you need something, ask me and I’ll help. Sorry, there’s not a reason on this rock that will make me understand. If you’re that desperate or in such a financial bind, make a change. Food items at a Pilot? You need to starve or at least add to your cholesterol issues. Bottled DEF? You need to blow up your motor on the side of the road and go bankrupt. I wish nothing but bad for you. It all comes down to stealing from me. The $300 in points aren’t the problem, the theft is. Like my 92 year old mom has said my whole life, God don’t like ugly. Trust me, if it was a mistake on Pilots end, cool, but I still feel the same way about someone stealing from me.

If I’m not mistaken, PFJ allows rewards redemption at the register just by inputting the phone number connected to the card.

OTR drivers get ripped off like that all the time because they’re constantly giving out their number to shippers and receivers and brokers. It’s a little odd for you to be targeted since you probably don’t give out your number anywhere near as frequently, if ever.

    JB,
Is it possible to have Pilot trace who it was that used your account? I never used Pilot fuel system for anything and I am in awe that it can happen. I am in total agreement with you about punishment to the scumbag that stooped to being a sewer dweller and steal from another human being.

4mer trucker, Friend, MACK E-6 and 2 others Thank this.

They do allow card usage with just your phone number. I have done that a lot and always thought how easy it is to use someone else’s card with just a phone number. I can’t think of anyone being able to use my card without my phone number.

Not with the way the system is set up. All you have to do is enter your phone number. The clerks never ask for ID. Anybody can walk up to a register and input a phone number. Low rent drivers that need to steal points and a shower don’t need to be in this industry with us.

I have PFJ and their fraud department working on it. I had to fill out a few forms and give a statement. My card is locked and I need to get a new one when I come back out. Meanwhile, the points will be put back into my account in 7-10 days. Here’s hoping the driver that did this has nothing but bad luck going forward.
