Why should you have to prove its legality.

Anyway the whole thing is BS. I no longer deliver to canada.

I posted about a similar experience on this forum and was called a liar. I've crossed the border thousands of times and it only happened once but that was one time too many. If it hasn't happened to you yet every time you cross the border the odds of it happening to you increase.

use binoculars and stay at the duty free shop until you see a truck back into the dock then cross..hahahaha.... :D they only do one at a time in lansdowne. They did 5 or 6 more typical inspections while i was getting screwed with...then while i was leaving they were searching the cab of a truck next to me...

These stories can be confirmed by calling any canadian customs/border patrol office. They acted like it was totally normal and routine to me. I was pissed.

I go across the boarder quite a few times, I live in Canada, I use to work 1/2 mile from the boarder and live about 5 miles from it the American Customs guard use to talk to my dog about whether I was going to buy him an ice-cream. Then 911 happened, I went across with a 45 ft flat deck to get cement blocks, they were special angled ones, I crossed no problems, coming back they had the mobile "X" ray scanner there. on the US side and insisted I go around threw it. I sat there for an hour, no explanation, then I was instructed that I would have to go 100 miles south to a concrete yard for further inspection. They had a truck in front of me and two behind. When I got there they took off one block and, with a jack hammer broke it up into small pieces, then took off the one beside it and did the same thing. There was a big rock in the second one. I had to wait for an hour there then was given paperwork about the two blocks and told to go. I phoned and was told to pick-up two more blocks, went to the boarder, got rescanned and sent on, to the Canadian side. The cement plant I was taken to sent us a bill for disposing of the concrete. When you come to the boarder, the airport anywhere, you are asking permission to cross they do not have to let you cross, they can download anything they want, They can take you to the hospital, and have your cavities searched. That is on Both sides, I have known drivers that had to pee in a cup and have a hair sample taken that was on the American side they even downloaded the truck computers. It is called no mans land and you have no rights there. If you do not believe me lip off the American side and they will teach you. Just a thought!

Oh Yeah, the U.S. can be a real three ring circus with only one ring. After almost four years of crossing regularly, and 2 years of that was practically every day, the only real hassle I got was on the U.S. side, in Detroit of course. :biggrin_2558:

After reading all this I think I'm gonna cut up my passport when I get home and tell my company I don't feel safe going into Canada.

99.9% of the crossing of the boarder are a none incident and you have to be predeclared, and all you have to do is shut off the truck, remove you sunglasses, answer, the questions you are asked, never lie to them, declare everything you have, know what you can and cannot bring across the boarder. You will have no problems.

Exactly what I've found. It's no big deal. Just use common sense and do nothing to make yourself standout.
Have I been xrayed? Have I had CBP and Canada customs go through my truck? Yep, so many times I've lost count. None of which was any big deal. The more you cross, the more the chances it'll be your turn in the bucket. Just do what they want, and try to keep a decent attitude. At the most I've been detained for 15 minutes, and that was in Sarnia on Easter Sunday. No other trucks around, they needed to do something I suppose. They were so decent to me, how could I be upset. When I got back in my truck, I saw nothing that suggested anyone other than myself had even been in there.

You guys that are afraid to cross, leave your trailer here, I'll be more than happy to finish your load. The ones that can't go due to some legality, need not pay attention to my post. Then again, I suspect most here won't.:biggrin_25525:

I had a similar thing happen at U.S. customs in Port Huron.
X-rayed, unloaded etc. Customs officer said to log it off duty.
    Asked why?
She said, "I have the keys, you are NOT in control of the vehicle."
    Happens going both ways.
