How's Everyone Doing in LTL Right Now?

I did one load and empty east bound and two load and empty westbound last week. The extra board is getting hammered with home time this week. Never realized how slow it was until another driver that got cancelled twice this week told me how slow it was.

 

Stable. Getting about 55 hrs per week.

 

Been on this bid 3 weeks and are already rebiding to add another run. Last year at this time we were around 15-18 extra board drivers. After this bid we will be down to 7 with 2 on medical out for 3-6 months.

With FedEx not wanting to hire people due to the spin-off. I think in a couple months and when fuel comes down. We're going to be desperate for help. Some centers are going to look like truckstops. We're already having nights where we are running 5 purchases to cover runs. And that's just DSM freight, not counting how many to cover other lanes.

 

Running linehaul 6 days here if you want it. Loads are always 30k or better inbound and outbound

 

And you're at UPS feeders now, right?

 

yes. Business is booming around the area. I run into SAIA and OD on sunday nights who have also been running 6 days for the last couple of months
