It wasn’t me. I’m loading egg in Georgia today that goes up to New York. I was on I-95 in Florida last night, though.

Just got an email from Indian River today. Can anyone elaborate on these runs? Just like to hear a drivers perspective

I’ve been running a lot of NE and Midwest for the past year or so. My miles have been consistently above average doing so. Sometimes, I pickup a preloaded tank in Laurel, MD and deliver it in Tennessee or Alabama. From there, I dead head up to our Fair Oaks, IN terminal and pickup a preloaded tank that goes to New York or Massachusetts. From there, I return to the Bensalem terminal or go directly back to Laurel. You could call it a big triangle or loop if you wanted to.

Sometimes, I deliver in Tennessee and go straight back to Laurel. (650 miles each direction from TN and 733 each direction from Alabama) Sometimes, instead of going to Fair Oaks to pickup my preloaded NE load, I will instead go get it myself where it originates in either Minnesota or Iowa, which makes for even more miles and still entails a drop/hook where it originates. It’s been a pretty good system for me. Keep in mind that I’m OTR, so don’t misconstrue that as me saying you will be forced to do the same routes if you hire on as regional or local. I’m just sharing with you what I’ve been doing lately.

With regard to Bensalem local, I visit with a driver at the terminal when he and I run into each other. He’s been here several years as well. He’s local. He makes six figures a year, is home at night and off weekends. He told me he starts his day in Bensalem, bobtails 35 miles to Flemington, NJ and picks up a clean/empty tank. From there, he runs 3 or 4 round trips from Newark, NJ back to Flemington, then he bobtails back to the terminal and goes home. He seems happy, and the fact that he’s been here for 8-9 years speaks for itself. I can’t speak for any of the other local or regional runs they do out of Bensalem since I’m not familiar enough with them. The terminal itself is clean, upper class, and in a good area with a Wawa across the street and a Walmart nearby. It’s also a stone’s throw from I-95 which makes it easy to get to. We have a laundry room and shower there, too.

    Hope it helps.

In referrenc3 to Laurel, Md, got a question. Have they improved the bays any. Been a long time since I was there and the bays were tight and tighter. I have seen some tires and rims get ruined there.

    Friend and Tanker_82 Thank this.
