Nobody has to define "spam" for me... I call it like I see it. Plenty posts where a person will ask a simple question, but they'll receive 15 replies from ChatbotTown w/ Hiring Trucking Companies. He might've not have done it this time, but he's done it plenty times before.
He gave decent advice on the first page, but all that "don't listen to the naysayers" BS and "you'll catch your death if you stay in a rut" stuff... Who's the naysayer? Nobody told him not to do it.
I would like some advice

Perhaps.
But this thread would clearly be a much more fun & informative read for others...if at some point we establish a working "reference point"....to make this oh-so-important discussion even more interesting....

There’s nothing wrong with being curious and asking questions. If money was the only motivating factor you could effectively make a little more money hauling fuel but not what I personally think might not be worth the little more you would make. You make $27 an hour and work 40 to 60 most likely from late spring to fall it’s probably closer to 60 hours. I work at Pilot flying J my shift is 12 hours a day 5 days a week at 28$ a hour with OT after 40.Now pilot flying j is not the highest paying fuel job in my area but honestly it’s very easy work just delivering to truck stops and never being in a rush my dispatch on a lot of times I could do in 8 to 9 hours but I will stretch that out for my 12I don’t know where you live but if you got on with a fuel hauler with no fuel experience and a year or 2 of tractor trailer experience it would most likely be at what I call an entry level company and what I mean by entry level. They are companies that pay less and pay on a per load based or percentage based and you have to remember most fuel jobs you share the truck with the night guy or day which ever and you working percentage pay and the other driver is money hungry he could get back late which in turn puts you starting late. you will have to work faster to make the same money for a 60 hour week where you’re at nowLast edited: Apr 16, 2026 at 8:21 PM

I certainly didn’t mean to bash you.But I also found for me your statement that if you stay at the same job for to long that job will kill you like your friends a bit bazaar.Look driving a truck is driving a truck the poster ask about hauling fuel if you ask me fuel and cement hauling isn’t a lot different cement haulers are going to job sites dropping cement and fuel haulers are going to stations and dropping fuel paid hourly most and ot after 40 not a big career move in my opinion that’s what the Dude says. And I again imo don’t see the benefit of loosing seniority where he already is.But he is also 20 years old a fact I didn’t notice at first but there isn’t a big money difference unless maybe he lives in the NE where there fuel hauler does pay a lot better then where I live in the south. I talked to a guy that said he worked at Sheetz I think in PA and they were at $38 an hour Sheetz are not where I live I don’t know what they pay.that most definitely would be a good choice if the poster lives in an area where he could go from $27 to $38.All my experience is in the south and companies here. I could try to get on at Loves for about a dollar more an hour it isn’t worth the dollar to start new and run nights and weekends to me.

The OP also asked about OTR. I gave some suggestions on the OTR, plus some fuel hauling jobs.
If he's content staying in the town he's in for the rest of his life, then that's what he should do. I love bouncing around all over the USA and world, especially Asia, but that doesn't mean it's a good plan for others. I had friends that did die before retirement and they worked locally, for different companies, beginning at high school graduation. To me, that would be extremely stressful, but that's me, and not everyone else. That's just my view on life.Last edited: Apr 16, 2026 at 8:54 PM

I tried local/home every day jobs, 2 of them. One was trucking and the other was in a factory. The routine was killing me; same crap every day, same scenery, same lame jokes in the breakroom, same route to work every day. I was becoming very depressed with all that. Life sucked! That's a great life for most people, but it was killing me. Didn't purposely offend the OP or others.Last edited: Apr 16, 2026 at 9:04 PM
