I’ll probably get flamed for this comment, but that’s a really slick looking truck! I know it’s not old school, but dang it looks cool. It’s rumored I might be getting the new Mack Pioneer, I don’t think they’re as sharp as that though :)

Eh, I’m not a fan of the new design. Not as much storage as Volvos used to have either. But I’d take one of those over my Freightliner any day. Definitely better than a freight shaker. More leaks, dust collection and squeaks than I have ever had. Plus the fuel pedal is a booger to push.

On my way home from the Keyes. Spent 2 nights at the closest point to Cuba from the US, excluding Hialeah which is referred to as little Cuba. Got the call to get my backside up to Humboldt for Monday. Picking up my rental this evening at the Palm Beach Airport on my way home. Will leave out tomorrow morning for the 990 mile drive to the hub to pick up the truck. Back at the grind Tuesday morning.

All moved in to the new Volvo. Only thing missing is the license plate and IFTA sticker. Those will be here Friday. Then I’ll run over to the Murfreesboro hub and pickup my teammate. Meanwhile, I’m in my last truck doing local work so I can earn my pay. Boss man is paying me a full weeks pay plus my 3 nights in a motel and rental car. Nice jester on his part, but it’s time to run wild. Of course that all depends on FedEx.

So, as with any major corporation, things move at a slow pace I had to wait until Monday to get everything needed for the truck. We wound up taking a truck out of the fleet that was going to be in the shop for a while and transfer the license plate, bestpass and EZ-Pass over to it. Then I had to wait on the new IFTA stickers and NY HUT permit. While waiting on all that, we had to get the new fuel card assigned and the new registration showing the transfer of the plate. It was easier doing all that instead of FEDEX approving it in the system. The final issue was getting my set of chains from the shop. All that was done around 3pm. I finally left Humboldt and bobtailed to Murfreesboro to pickup my buddy. Got there about 7:30, fueled at the Pilot and grabbed a shower. We went to Texas Roadhouse for a steak then called it a night. The call came in at 0400 to hook a loaded ‘53 and head to Saint Paul. Got there last night about 9:30, dropped the load and checked in with Linehaul. They said it would be about 0600 for a reload. That call came in at 0500 with a load to Sacramento. Another ‘53. Left at 0530. Right now we’re just going through Lincoln Nebraska. I take over in Gothenburg. We’ll be in Sacramento about 6pm tomorrow.

The truck rides great. Comfortable and a pleasure to drive. This truck though has fsr to much technology. Personally, I think it’s a little overkill. But, I’ll enjoy it while I’m still sightseeing across the country.
