And the "Just dumb luck" award for today
goes to the driver of that black car,
almost going to pass this cement truck,
and would have gotten swept up in this chaos.
He even missed the massive rubber tread chunk.
Be safe out there!Flat Earth Trucker, OLDSKOOLERnWV, Grumppy and 3 others Thank this. -
wow
That shows just how fast it can all go bad.Rugerfan, Flat Earth Trucker, Toomanybikes and 6 others Thank this. -
I actually timed it.
From the time the tire blew out to the time the truck laid over approximately 4 1/2 SECONDS had elapsed!jaffles, Flat Earth Trucker, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 6 others Thank this. -
Sad thing is at the 5 second mark you can see black streeks on the pavement before he goes off the road hard. So looks like he may have stomped the brake by reflex. Sadly that also means a high chance some office critter or insurance agent reviewing the vid will put 100% of the fault on him. Moreso if he has a recorder in the truck showing him doing it.
Tall Mike Thanks this. -
Yep, I noticed how lucky that driver was, then I watched the opposite moving vehicles. Just about the time the truck hit the ground those 4 vehicles went right through his trail. They were really lucky too. That was c-l-o-s-e!! Of all those vehicles on both sides... as close as they were.. nobody got involved. That was just crazy lucky right there.

That was definitely lotto ticket time all around there!Tall Mike Thanks this.

Looks like a bottom dump more than a cement truck, cement is normally carried in pnuematic taks not bins. but you never know.

Front blowouts srethe worst place possible. Now lets hear it from the I don't need to pre and post trip my equipment. Bad part a tire separation may not be visbile, probably bounces it off curbs in the plant. Theres alway a reason.jaffles and Arctic_fox Thank this.

worst front tire blowout I personally had was a Triumph Trident 30 yrs. ago.
Doing about 60 around a corner and it let loose, lock to lock 4 times,
standing on the rear brake - somehow kept it upright? WTF?
The saving grace was Triumph design had 3 clamps holding the tire on rim.
If you look at Triumph rim there are 3 bolts spaced 120 deg. apart.
Otherwise I would have been a goner. Guy up the street came outside
and said "He saw the whole thing from my front picture window.
Man, can you ride!" Felt pretty good for an almost dead guy.Dflip, mjd4277 and Powder Joints Thank this.
