This is a great site!!!! I wish I had seen it in 1998 when I first started driving. o.k. this is my question . I have been pre-hired at CRST, Maverick, and USF Glen Moore. I want to know which company you think is best. I have already marked CRST off the list thanks to this site. I have done a lot of research on the other two. Maverick is a private company, great equipment, good home time, etc. USF Glen Moore is a public traded company owned by a worldwide company, and also has great equipment good home time etc. I know they are very differant, dry van vs. flatbed. Let me know what you think.... Thanks for your help

Since I have no love for wagons it would be an easy choice for me. I've talked to several Maverick drivers and they all love it.

I also have not heard a bad thing about maverick from there drivers. And in this industry that is REALLY saying something. I considered going there but I don't do flatbed, or at least I havn't. Plus they all run there cool racing slicks!! I love those super singles Of course since they bought out schneiders flatbed division I'v seen some of them in old pumpkin trucks :(

Hey thanks for the input everyone. I think I am going to go with Maverick. USF called me and said I would have to attend a refreaser (spelling??) class that will cost $2000, because I have been driving a gas tanker local for the past two years. I am set to leave for Maverick on 2-16-07. I'll see you guys on the road shortly. Thanks again..:smt045

I get SO sick of these companies discrimnating against local driving experience. In my opinion it's just a way for them to screw us out of more money. They don't pay the higher rate for more experience or do something like this. Heartland tried doing this to me when I called them. My experience is mixed probably 50/50 over 12 years or so.
What is the difference? and actually a local guy will usually be better in tight spaces and backing up in my opinion. JUst because they don't sleep in the truck! They still deal with scales, dot, traffic etc.
I could mabey see if someone has NO otr experience as there is things about being on the road that is only learned there but those are things that are not forgoten in my opinion.
sorry, this is one of my pet peeves

Just curious if there was a reason you didn't want to do OTR tanker since you had experience. I thought it was comperable money to flatbed.
